What a good boy.
[Inspired by the February writing prompt. Also, I haven't seen a K-9 player about here, but if there is one, I didn't mean to step on toes. This is a different model - Mark VI.]
Today, the Doctor comes out of the TARDIS, calling to someone else. "Well, come on, K-9, come see this world we're in."
"Yes, Master. Right away, Master." A metallic voice calls out and soon, the sound of metal wheels can be heard. Then a metal dog follows the Doctor out of the TARDIS.
The Doctor bends over and scratches the animal under the chin, he talks in a voice that some people use to talk to tiny children. "Oh, there's a good boy! Such a good Dog!"

The Doctor is in a better mood than he has been in for quite some time. He still doesn't have as much control over his regeneration energy as he'd like, but he's getting better.
Later, he can be found sitting on a bench with a box in front of him. On top of the box is a chess board and K-9 is standing on the opposite side. Yes, the Doctor is playing chess with his faithful companion just as he used to do all those years ago.

"King's Knight's Pawn to B2." K-9's metal voice calls out.
The Doctor moves the piece appropriately and then moves his own piece. The pair will continue to play as they talk to anyone who comes up. Well, until it is clear that K-9 will likely win the game. Then the Doctor moves his leg in order to stretch it, but as he does, he knocks the chessboard over.
"Oh, I'm so sorry, I can't believe I did that!"
K-9's voice rings out. "You always say that."
The Doctor smiles as he starts to clean up the mess. "Well, it's always true."
K-9's voice is soft, but still audible. "It's your Secret Chess Move."
The Doctor looks around. "Hush, don't give that away."

She sniffed the air, as she went about patrolling and looking about for things in her German shepherd glamour again.
She tilts her head as she spies the pair her tail wagging at the sight of the metal canine. As she cheerly comes over to say hi and help clean up. " oh, dear hello. Need any help?" She greets them warmly and asks politely reaching for the nearest piece.
no subject
"No, not at all, I've nearly picked them all up already."
He puts the collection of pieces on the board and sits on the bench properly.
"How did you enjoy the snow the other day?"
Or was it a week ago? Time is very strange here.

She shivers in memory."cold, as usual.. ok I suppose. " She murmurs wryly. She didn't mind playing in the snow occasionally, but falling/ getting stuck in it was another matter. Blech. She did not like freezing /low temperatures though. She'd much rather be cozy by a fire with a book , hot cocoa and her beloved if she had a choice in the matter. After errands and work was done.
"How have you been fareing? Well I hope. " She asks warmly in return. Before tilting her head at and slightly sniffing inquestively in K-9's direction. The tip of her tail wagging in a friendly manner.

The Doctor had managed to avoid the falling into the trap. Only because he had needed the walking stick that day.
"I had half a mind to melt all of the snow. I think I annoyed him enough by not falling into the the trap, though."
And he could have melted it all. Wouldn't have been difficult to do with the sonics. He had shown off with his regeneration energy, only because he had to siphon some off anyway. So, it served a dual purpose to do it that way.
"Better than when we first met, yes."
He watches her sniff the other dog. "Ah, that's K-9. Well, K-9 Mark VI to be precise. He's been my dog for a long time."
K-9 then speaks. "Master found many parts around the TARDIS and was able to assemble me again. I am pleased that he was able to. He is a good Master."
The Doctor chuckles. "I think K-9 is just pleased to be able to move around again, not sure that makes me good in it's own right."

"hmmm, wouldn't blame ya for it myself, but...Reynard wouldn't likely taken kindly to it." She murmurs understandingly in a diplomatic tone. She rather help keep the peace if she could help it. Especially with all the various powered beings roundabout. Least till she gathered all the facts and allies she could.
"good, glad to hear it." She murmurs sincerely and gently nudges his hand. In a universal doggish way.
"Ello K-9, you can call me Ash, if ya like..ooh like an auto-tomaton? " She states and then asks curious and intrigued. And an excited wiggle and wag. "pleasure to met ya." She adds. Recalling how the Greeks and Roman's wrote of such things. fitting she had some of each in her family tree on the maternal and paternal line respectively.
"He sounds wicked smart and very nice indeed." She murmurs with a lopsided smirk at K-9.
"oh, I assure you little things can mean something big to the receiver." She murmurs warmly and with a knowing nod.

He trails off his explanation to K-9, not really wanting to talk about it. After all, he's in a bit of stasis now. Which is entirely different from the State of Grace he was in before. It just took a bit to assert itself. He can over-come it when he needs to, but by and large, he's mostly stable now. Which brings him back to the spirit.
"Reynard doesn't seem like a kind person to me in general. So, I'm not sure it would matter."
Basically, if the Doctor were Santa, Reynard would be on his naughty list.

"Hmm, he us somewhat hard to pin down. " She murmurs, "rather like Jack Frost. Or barrie's Peter pan. " She remarks. She didn't think he was malicious with evil intent.. maybe more chaotic good ish if one was using a ranking system. Didn't mean she approved of his methods but she was still trying to figure out motives.
Trying to objective was hard sometimes.

Really, best to keep these two in different corners of the Nexus. K-9 was confused by the pair talking, but more by the other dog.
"I can talk, but I am a computer. How is it you can talk?"
no subject
She blinks and then smiles softly at K-9, "oh well, I'am what folks call a shifter. " She began warmly. knowing that at least these two wouldn't judge her for it most likely.
no subject
The Doctor glared at him. "K-9, that was rude!"
"Master?"
"This isn't our home universe. It's a causal nexus. It's rude to scan people here without their permission." He actually means without him telling the dog to do so, but who's counting? "If there's something you would like to know, try asking her."
"Very well, Master." He directs his question to the other dog. "What kind of shifter? There are many."
no subject
"Ah that is true." She chuckles softly, "folks like me tend to get classified as a subspecies of shapeshifters that can change into one type of animal from human and vice versa. obviously mines of the canine variety. Typically my form is a black wolf but I know a glamour spell that gives me this appearance when I'm on patrol duty." She informs them. She usually got hungry after a while of using it as it took energy as did most of the spells she knew and used when needed.

"Erm. That's not what he meant. I mean, we can tell that much just by being around you. He meant, what is your species. Your people. Planet of origin, if you know it would be helpful too."
They're science minded, so that's how they approach things.
no subject
"Er, I suppose meta or enchanced human might be a scientific proper term. Our home world hasn't really decided which term they like best yet. Well most folks call our realm Mist Haven or The Enchanted Forest. Well. " She pauses for a moment. "It's definitely earth like I've read scholars that have called it New Gaea or Nova Gaia. If that helps. " She informs him warmly.
no subject
"K-9, she's done the best she can."
"I just wish to understand, Master."
He looks to Ash. "He's a computer. Encyclopedia knowledge. Sometimes he doesn't know how to compensate for differences."
no subject
"Er, well not that anyone can agree one, I've heard the scientific community use several terms, each culture seems to have its own as well. " She murmurs softly with a lopsided smile. "Depends on who ya ask I suppose. " She tended to use the simple ones for everyday use though.
"It's alright, I like chatting about things some folks don't seem to know how to have civil conversations anymore.. at least back in Storybrooke. " She adds quickly. Round here she'd found all sorts of talky folks.
