Bringing in Spring with a worthy revel
[With the changing of seasons, many Nexus visitors are very happy to see the snow melt away and life returning to their beloved home. Spring is here!
It appears overnight: a large pantheon in the center of the Nexus forum, and once can only guess how such a great building was erected without anyone noticing. Atop the Patheon are two golden thrones, adorned with gemstones of great value. No one seems to be sitting there, but they seem to hold a great deal of importance to the cloaked humans who guard the Pantheon entrance.
The land in front of the Pantheon is paved with smooth, old stones in the shape of a large circle. Lush flowers and grass grown along the outskirts of the cropping, full of beautiful and exotic plants. Truly the host of this revel wants even nature to bend before their whim.
On the left and right sides of the sides of the circle are two long marble tables, where different food and drink await those who enter. Freshly cooked meat. Ripe fruits and unsullied wine. Whatever your heart desires, be it simple or sweet, you will be hard pressed to not find it on one of the tables. Near the tables is also a large group of tents, adorned with many plush chairs and sofas for those who like to relax while indulging.
The center of the circle has a large bonfire pit, carved of fine stone, lit with a brilliant (almost unearthly) red fire. Comforting to those seeking warmth or invigorating to the souls of the weary: it carries an important symbol for the revel: let your soul burn as hot as the flames inside. Which, to the satyr, it means that everyone present should be partying and indulging with one another. There seems to be plenty of space for dancing and socializing alike, whatever your preference may be.
The entrance into this festivity is monitored by a group of half-human, half-goat satyr. They don’t seem to be picky about who gets let in, assuming you’re not here to ruin the fun, but it would be wise to check it with them first. This is a masquerade-style party, so all of the guests need masks.
But there can’t be anything possible wrong with such a wonderful party, right? Perhaps things are not all as they seem….]

"I believe in having, and wearing, fine things wherever I go," she says with another laugh. "I have the capital to spend and a tailor who indulges my every whim for neutral looks that have some amount of 'flair' to them, as he would say." It seems like it's working out in her favor for this party as well.
A warm smile settles on her lips as she touches the mask one last time to make sure it's properly in place. "What is your world like? Is everyone a satyr where you're from, or are there other peoples, too?" A beat, and then she quickly adds, "And are parties common there? This place came up overnight and it seems far better planned than any last minute party I've ever heard of."

He's smiling and being very playful in every step, almost showing off in a way. He did get the chance to make Amelia happy over the other satyr, so that is an achievement in itself. "I would ask for your tailor's name, but alas, us satyr do not need a robust wardrobe like humans do." He laughs a little. "I am from Theros, a world where many creatures and humans live. Celebrations like these are fairly common, if one knows where to look. I have been told our world reminds many humans of Greece, but I do not know of this world."

The slight show, obviously put on for her benefit, earns a playful smirk from the rogue. "Don't challenge him - he'll take it if you give him the chance." And the bigger the challenge, the more eager he is to accept and complete it. "If you're truly curious, let me know and I'll introduce you when the party is over."
At the mention of the satyr's world, Amelia's smirk warms into an amused smile. "I don't know anything about Greece either, but my world is a small one in the multiverse. It's not even a version of Earth, which is a world many people I know here come from." As she looks around at the spectacle around them, she adds, "I'm glad you brought this party here from your world. It's not often those who have just arrived want to throw a party."
no subject
"I will keep the offer in mind, dear lady." He lowers his head, then offers to guide Amelia around the festival ground slowly. First, he walks by the pottery and arts, intentionally going slow in case she wants to stop walking suddenly. "I appreciate your compliments. We are but wayward travelers who left our world in search of a better revel. The parties we throw are not always approved of by my people."
no subject
Amelia's not usually one to appreciate art on her own, but a gallery such as this is something she very much enjoys with others. Even more so when she's not casing all of it for a heist. She allows her host to slow their pace, but never seeks to stop them.
"Do you not intend on going home?" she asks, a curious frown tugging at her lips. "Even if some of your people don't approve of your parties, many must still enjoy them." A beat, and she quickly adds, "Not that I'm ungrateful for you bringing this particular party to the Nexus, but giving up your home is a decision that should be based on more than the desire for revelry."
no subject
"Our old God died many moons ago, so we came to the Nexus for a new one and found him. Going back to Theros is something we will never do. The Nexus is our new home now." The satyr tilts his head curiously. "Have you not felt this way either? That your old world no longer welcomes you?"
no subject
It's all speculation, of course, but the rogue believes every word of what she says. If she went home and told her family and friends that she needed to be away, they would believe her. Some might be skeptical, but as she fell back into her normal life, she's certain they would all forgive her for going and come back around.
A small frown tugs at her lips as she regards her host closely. "Unless all of the people of your world came with you to the Nexus, there must be some reason to at least visit your home. Even if your god is gone, would you really abandon the planet, and anyone still there, to its own fate without knowing it?"
no subject
"We have been wrongfully discriminated on our world. Many heroes blame us for an event which was not our fault." He's lying, of course, but says things so confidently that is could be considered truth. "Theros is protected by many heroes and Gods. Leaving will not put the plane in danger."
no subject
Trying to read the expressions and tone of voice of a satyr isn't something Amelia's ever done before, but as they're at a party and everyone has obviously been drinking, she takes his "truth" with a grain of salt. "Discrimination can only be fought when you remain," she says, her lips tugging into a frown. "If you choose to hide, you are no better than those who have done you wrong. Why not stand up for yourselves and earn your place beside them?"
no subject
"We tried once. Our former god, Xenagos, strived to be part of the Pantheon. Once he obtained his place among the gods, he become the God of Revels. We satyr were allowed to revel and celebrate for as long as we wanted. However, the humans were not a fan of our celebrations and they killed Xenagos."
no subject
"That seems a harsh punishment for the crime of revelry." Though she has a feeling there's a lot more to this story than the satyr is letting on. She debates letting it go for a moment - they are at a party, after all - but her curiosity gets the better of her. "What about a good party were they so upset about?"
