Time for a big ol' Nexus Block party

On a sleepy summer morning a wonderful smell begins to waft throughout the Nexus. For those familiar with this place there can only be one explanation but for those new faces to the nexus this may be a strange thing: seeing so many people flocking toward the sweet and savory scents perfuming the Nexus.

There are a few tables set out this morning in the Plaza in front of a small cafe loaded with several carafes of coffee, a myriad of pastries from more than a few different worlds and cultures, and a large pan of eggs and sausage kept warm over a chafing dish. On either end of the table are disposable plates, cups, and cutlery as well as a few welcome pamphlets in a small container. Along the front of the tables is a hand made banner.

Meet and Greet

Manning the tables is Katsuya Suou, red apron on and a cup of coffee in hand. He looks far too cheerful for how early in the morning it is. It's always satisfying to put one of these on and see the throngs of different people stuck in line together to get their food and find a place to sit among the tables and couches nearby.

"Right then, is anyone hungry? I've got more than enough here for everyone so please mingle among yourselves or feel free to ask me anything you'd like."

"Sounds like you are hungry. I should let you go get some of the delicious smelling food."

"Well enough." which isn't well at all, but that's beside the point. He's having a hard time navigating his growing abilities and bringing people into his life, no matter how or what or who, is needed, "It's good to see you. I didn't think you'd be back so soon. You seemed ready to embark on a...quest."

"Oh, good. I was just wondering if this place was like a Deeprealm, which is like... a plane of reality connected to the surface, but with it's own sense of time and space." He pauses. "Sorry, still not making sense?"

He looks over the drinks, scanning the labels carefully. (Michi would soon later be grateful that the Nexus can translate anything for everyone) He carefully takes a tea blend that features cinnamon. "This chai... this isn't something I've had before."

Caspar's gaze shifts to Marie and doesn't soften in the slightest. He hasn't forgotten your role in all of this, missy. Doing deals with a serial killer, not bothering to warn Adia or anyone else who Jeff had targeted.

What would you think if you knew the truth? he wonders. Would you be so quick to forgive him?

Fortunately for all of them, Marie takes the initiative in ending the awkward interaction. Princess oinks goodbye, but Caspar stares back, silent and unrepentant. Jeff may be unsure if he knows the Cylon or not, but Caspar certainly knows him. He watches them coldly while they walk away until they are out of sight.

"Tep?" Princess asks, looking up at Caspar in confusion. He's acting awfully funny just now. Why was he so mad at those two people?

Caspar lets out a long sigh. "It's complicated," he tells her. "They haven't done anything wrong, technically, but I don't trust them, and neither should you." He sets her back down on her hooves and stands, tugging at the cuffs of his sleeves until they're properly aligned. "Let's find Adia, it's time to go."

"...I can manage that." Does he have any choice? He'd have to try, "...Red? Pamela?"

"The one and only," Tatsuya replied, taking a swig of his Coke as he leaned back on his chair to give the newcomer a better view of the screen. "Freddie Mercury's vocal range, Brian May's Red Special... nothing can really compare to the Queen sound, right?" He flashes Majima a grin.

Only time will tell how Marie feels about the whole thing, if she ever learns the truth...For now, conflict between former serial killer and accomplice has been avoided this time.

At least Adia's probably faring better, as Ice Bear (with some help from Panda) is at the buffet, packing up lots of different containers full of food for Adia to take back with her. He's even sneaking in some chocolate croissants that Katsuya baked.

"What other things should Ice Bear pack for the children? Does Adia want any additional treats?"

Panda is also happy to chirp in suggestions as well. "Ms. Adia, is there anything we can get for the children in the future? Coloring books? Toys?" The older brother is also being very supportive at helping the residents of Atlantis.

"Yeah, our home is run by a guy known as a president. He's as powerful as a king though. Narnia sounds like a neat place to live though."

Grizz nods happily. "Of course! Me and my bros have met some nice humans, like Chloe and Ranger Tabes. We've started making some good friends, even if some people can be rude." He shrugs his shoulders. "Have you noticed that the people in the Nexus are super nice?"

"She hangs out with us every now and then."

"Oh! It's at the front of the buffet. I can lead you there. Ice Bear won't make you wait at all."

Panda can use this as a chance to refill his drink cart as well. But his main concern is getting Josh to Katsuya and Ice Bear. They'll know what to do to help...

"Just follow me, Josh."

"I'm pretty sure there's toast along with some typical fruits, like strawberries and oranges. You shouldn't have any trouble at all finding something similar to what you have at home."

Marie grins as she watches Ice Bear easily flipping multiple pancakes onto a plate. "It's always fun to try new things though..." And hey, the line has started moving, putting them only a few people away from the buffet.

"Have you ever tried chocolate before? If you don't mind alcohol in the morning, I can also recommend asking Ice Bear for a mimosa. It's a partial fruit drink."

What? The magical bag is definitely noticed, so Marie is trying not to stare while Hermoine addresses her. She recovers by pulling out her smartphone and quickly skimming through her schedule for next week. There'a small meeting scheduled in the afternoon, but thankfully it's with a client who doesn't mind rescheduling. Maybe she'll bring him back a souvenir as compensation.

"That day works for me. Where would you like to meet up? Let me also give you my contact number as well."

"Soon." She nods, and the glow of her optics burns brighter. "I'm going to find the solar fire and take it up. Just have some things I need to get straightened out, first." She taps the side of her head. "And I think we've finally found a man who can help me do that. As soon as I can trust my own processors, I'm heading for Mercury."

The excitement is starting to brim under her metal exterior, and it shows in the way she shifts her weight. Excitement for the promise of what waits out there, and for a kind of healing she never really hoped to find.

Jake chuckles, flashing sharp teeth. "Y'know, I never thought about it before, but I'd say no. S'long as they aren't the poisonous kind anyway."

The offer to open up the dragonfruit is fine by Jake, and he gladly hands it over. "Sure, thanks. I haven't seen one of these things before. Kinda looks like utumauti, just smaller." He gets a thoughtful look while he watches Alex open that baby up. "Can you just do Earth stuff, or can you learn how to grow other plants?"

It's like something out of a cartoon, or a really good acid trip. Jake loves it immediately. Can't argue with that, so he takes a seat, and boy does it feel weird sitting in a chair after years without.

"I'm gonna guess you're not scared of heights."

"No shit?" Jake sounds suitably impressed that she's gotten a name, although there's part of him that has to bite his tongue so he doesn't say something dumb like 'like the shoe company?' "That's awesome. So that's why you've got the new duds?" he adds, gesturing to her dress and matching boots.

"One of my best friends is a half giant. I got used to sitting in really large furniture." Hermione explains with a smile.

A orange tabby kitten jumps up to a smaller chair, and then makes a mighty leap into Hermione's lap. He chirps a greeting at Jake.

"We should meet in the Nexus, so I can guide you to my door." Hermione suggests. She takes out her PINpoint so she can take Marie's contact number.

"Oh, Ice Bear, thank you. This is already plenty, I can drop it off at our school and the children can all have them for a snack afterwards." She'll figure out how to explain where she got all of it later.

As predicted, Adia has taken to Panda immediately, finding a kindred spirit in the shy, nervous bear. "That's so thoughtful of you. I think they'd like some crayons and paper most of all. I don't think they miss toys all that much, to be honest. The island itself is so much fun to explore, they've been using their imagination instead."

Time spent with the Bears always puts her in a great mood, so when Caspar marches up, Tepig on his heels, it's a bit of a shock to her system. "What's wrong?" she asks immediately, recognizing how upset he is, even if he's doing his best to hide it.

Caspar starts to reply, then glances at the Bears -- in particular Panda, who he has not met yet. "...ran into you-know-who," he says simply. Adia startles and he adds quickly, "Nothing happened. He doesn't remember me. Neither does Marie."

Adia sighs softly. Their conversation about this went only a little better than when she spoke with Madrone. She's proud of Caspar for keeping his cool, but worried, too, that this accidental meeting has opened old wounds for him, too. Reaching out, she takes his hand and gives it a warm squeeze. "I'm glad you found me," she says quietly, before gesturing to Panda. "This is Panda, Ice Bear's other brother. Panda, this is my boyfriend, Caspar. And that's Princess, his Tepig."

Princess oinks hello to Ice bear and the soft-looking Pangoro.

It's not so much that Adia is unwilling to talk about what happened, she simply doesn't know where to start. So it's a relief that Hunter talks about his situation, even if the news isn't great. "Caspar let me know what happened," she says in concern. "I'm sorry that meeting her was painful. Could you find someone to be a third party to the situation?"

"Like what, a magical conduit?" Caspar asks.

"Yes, or even someone who can act as a liaison for you. It doesn't sound like she has any idea about the magic she's holding."

Meanwhile, the little pig-like creature under the table is getting bored of waiting for Caspar to give her another treat. She pokes her head out from under the table and looks up at Hunter curiously.

"Not a problem, Adia." Ice Bear gives a thumbs up, while he's tying together a few bags of food, making them easier for Adia to carry home. Panda seems more than able to fill in the conversation gaps while Ice works.

"Of course! I'm an artist, so me and little bro can gather up some things at home. It's always good to help those in need." Panda, despite his shy nature, has a good heart. He's definitely not a boisterous as Grizz (who at the moment, is having way too much chatting up with other Nexus-goers).

When Caspar approaches, Panda can't help but become shy, waving idly to Adia's boyfriend. "H-Hi...Panda...Nice to meet you..." It'll take him a moment to notice the Tepig, which causes Panda's eyes to go wide.

"Is that a real Pokemon?!" He grabs Ice Bear's arm and begins shaking him, while Ice Bear just stands there and takes it. "Oh my gosh this is so exciting!!!"

"Since I don't know a lot of magic-users... besides Hermione and she is extremely busy right now... I was thinking about Caspar's suggestion to ask the Nexus in general."

Hunter looks at the pig-like creature. "Hey you." He is very used to have Kneazles around, with Hermione and then Jim.

"Who is your friend?" He asks Caspar.

"I woulda killed to see one of their shows, but that was a shit year. Bad timing."

He claps his hands together excitedly, then points at Tatsuya. "Hey, favorite album. Let's hear it."
