Polling the Nexus
The question area: a place that many people traverse or where newcomers hang around asking for help on how to get home. Today there's a large white table with different tablets set out for anyone to touch or examine. In fact, the woman sitting behind the table is eagerly encouraging people to stop by for scientific reasons.
"I'm here conducting research for my home-world, studying the nature and mental fortitude of people and creatures alike. As you can see, I've set up a few example polls regarding different topics that allow people to reflect upon their mental strengths and weaknesses. So, as is proper to ask a question here: would you be so kind to volunteer a few minutes of your time to participate in a survey? I promise none of your personal information will be revealed."
Lusamine is very polite and sells a good case, but she understands how strange this may look in the Nexus. "Your time and efforts will be compensated should you choose to cooperate. Once again, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you, citizens of the Nexus."

"Just remember, answer honestly and don't think too long on the questions. Once you're done, I'll take a look at your results and document them."

She reads each question and answers pretty quickly, and at the End, she gets 'Fire Type' and offers the tablet toward the younger looking woman leaving it on the page. She did rather like the..was it Charizard or Charmander? She always got those two mixed up. "Here ya go." She murmurs warmly hoping she did it alright.

Lusamine nods politely. "I know different worlds have different means of payment, after all. Have you been here long? In the Nexus?"
no subject
She slightly wiggles her ears, "Aye that true and hmm, oh it's been off and on for..several months now at least. " She replies and nods.
no subject
"Oh really? Can you tell me anything about the animals or non-human lifeforms you've seen around here? I would love to be able to offer my assistance to those in need."
no subject
She blinks and then smiles friendly and gamely. "Oh, ah Aye..and a bit." She beams at that, it sounded like and she hoped she found another kindred spirit. After all, her first 'profession' back home had been in the healing arts.
She looks up in thought for a moment, "Ah, well let's see..there's been several sorts of shapeshifters,,.um most of the wolfish varieties." She states and eyes her for a second to gauge her reaction. Purposefully not giving names in that case, some folks didn't react well to such for various reasons.
"Also a few um superheroes aka Super Soldiers, " She states and ticks off her fingers, "Augmented humans, robots, nature spirits, wizards and the like." She summarizes a little.

He does not cut an impressive figure, between the old clothes and the leg braces, but he has an honest face. "I'll do it. S'long as it's just written."
no subject
"But of course. I have kept a few written tests for such an occasion." She pulls out a small two-page document that has different questions written on it, a simple 5-minute test. Anything more would be overwhelming.
"If you don't mind, I'd like to ask you a few questions as well."
no subject
He looks pleased by the written test. He can read perfectly well, but he's not accustomed to Nexus-level tech yet. And any funny looks she gives him he won't comment on. He's used to well-dressed ladies glancing askance at him. The wonder of the Nexus is that there aren't more reactions like that. "Thank you, ma'am, I appreciate it."
At least he's polite. And he scans the document quickly, considering it. It's a weird sort of questionnaire to his mind, but it ain't hard to fill out. He comes out with 24 in column L, 20 in column O, 31 in column G, and 25 in column B.
"Reckon I'm a Golden Retriever," he says, sounding amused. It's not a bad result. "Guess you could say I'm loyal, yeah. What else d'you want to know?"
no subject
"You're referring to the cute yellow dog, correct? I've been reading up on different animals from other worlds as of late. Being loyal to your friends is a great trait to have." She nods eagerly. "Yes, yes. This is my first time getting to properly ask the Nexus questions. For starters, tell me a little about yourself? What are your hobbies?"
no subject
"Yeah, they're dogs. Not hunting dogs. Family pet types," he smiles, and he can't begin to imagine how quizzing him about his personality traits helps her world in any way, but he appreciates the conversation nonetheless.
"Well, my name's Cricket. I don't guess that matters for research but it'd feel weird not to tell you it if I'm talkin' to you. I like...building things, taking 'em apart and fixing 'em again. Specially engines, but I can work with things like stoves and toasters and radios, too."
no subject
She bows politely to him as part of the greeting. "Lusamine. It's nice to meet you, Mr. Cricket." His answer to the question causes her to show a little bit of shock, given how Cricket's appearance implies that he does something less technical. "So you're an engineer of sorts? I imagine the Nexus has no storage of things to tinker with. What are your thoughts on scientific research? The discovery of new worlds and creatures?"

Ogilvy's a scientist himself and is sympathetic, even if his particular line of work is different than the strange woman. He feels like he ought to help a fellow researcher. Maybe he'd learn something in return. His universe is a lot larger than the town where he grew up now, and he likes that.
"I don't mind if I do, ma'am. I'm guessing this is a fairly typical poll?" He has a good idea of how surveys and written exams work, he's taken his share of them, but he is curious about the rules. There might be idiosyncrasies to the other scientist's homeworld that he isn't aware of. Other worlds probably had their own rules, and learning them was only good manners.
The whole concept of other worlds is new to Ogilvy, and he feels like a child in a candy store, eager to explore and experience everything he can. He wonders if the other Nexus visitors feel the same way.
no subject
"Of course, no trick questions. It would just be answering things honestly and getting your feedback." She's not some shady scientist who wants to cause a ruckus in the Nexus or otherwise people won't trust her. "I'm Lusamine, President of the Aether Foundation. To whom do I have the pleasure of speaking with today?"
no subject
"Don't mind if I help you with your study. I must say...I am wondering which creature from your world you think I am most like." Ogilvy had another question. "Aether Foundation. What does this foundation of yours study? My research is focused in an observatory near my home. Very quiet, but honestly I like things that way."
no subject
"I have an example questionnaire for that very topic, in fact. You can fill it out while we talk." She offers him a tablet with the quiz on it. "We help injured and lost Pokemon in the form of rehabilitation, but my personal goal is to study different wormholes connecting from a different dimension."
no subject
Ogilvy raises an eyebrow at the word "Pokemon" as he accepts the tablet, since he's never heard of such creatures. Maybe the questionnaire will help him understand what Lusamine is talking about, since they're alien to him.
He fills it out, confused by his result. He was apparently most like Grass-type Pokemon, and he didn't see that coming. The creatures decorating the screen were ones he certainly didn't recognize. "If you don't mind, what are these Pokemon you're talking about? My world has no Pokemon."
