When Life Slows Down
It is a major downer for Peter to have a leg cast right now. His whole life seems to be crawling along at a snail's pace. He is used to being the first to class... but is now the last. He is used to living life in the fast line... but is now stuck behind some senior going half the speed limit. And he feels like he is that senior.
And he can't focus right. Which is why he was headed to his hide-away in the attic, and took all that effort to drag himself up one step at a time...
When his head popped up in a whole new area that definitely was not the attic. His eyes went wide as sights and sounds surrounded him, and he was not even all the way out into the Nexus plaza yet.
He tosses his crutches onto the ground of the plaza, then pulls himself all the way up out of the hole in the ground that is his Nexus portal. And sits there on the ground for a moment. His eyes seem to move very quickly surveying everything around him.
He doesn't seem concerned about moving off the ground right now. His finger tap quickly on the floor beside him. More than anything in the world he wants to see everything... visit every Nexus shop... sample every exotic treat. But the cast has him contained. Sullen and contained.
"What would be your version of 'being between a rock and a hard place'?"

He doesn't even know how to get back to the Outpost. He'd panicked when the dog came in and scrambled into the nearest closet to hide when it went for him. Cowardly? Yes, but he's sure it also saved his life. As intimidating and huge as the Nexus is, Palmer is happy to be alive.
"Let's say you had folks back where you came from who you're pretty sure miss you. However, if you went back to see 'em you'd probably get killed."
no subject
"Couldn't you... just gather supplies here that would keep you from dying? And then go back to see everyone?"
"Or is that not allowed?"
no subject
Palmer doesn't really know a way home. Maybe, if he did, he could arm himself to the teeth and take care of that monster of a dog when he came back. Then the other guys would owe him big time.
"But I'm not sure if I can stop it, or if there even is a way home."
no subject
"Did you get lost?" Should he be marking his door, which still sits beside him.

"How about between a black hole and a gun in my face?" Not his most hopeless moment, but it's one that he's willing to talk about.
no subject
"If we were doing would you rather... I would pick black hole."
"But what did you end up doing?"
no subject
"How about you? What's your rock and a hard place? Gotta tell you, though, gunshot is way less brutal than a black hole, unless you're going for the novelty."

Something about this kid does seem vaguely familiar, though.
He shakes his head grimly. "Never mind, that's a hell of a long story. You okay there, pal? I could get you a chair."
no subject
"It is hard to get off the floor when you can't bend one knee..." He admits.
no subject
"Hold on a sec." He makes a quick jog over to pick up an actual armchair--one that should probably require two guys to move comfortably--and brings it over. He sets it carefully within a few feet of the kid and then offers his hand. "I mean, I can pick you right up if you want, but I don't want to just manhandle a stranger without asking..."
no subject
He watches as Steve picks up an armchair and brings it over. Peter cocks an eyebrow at the man, with another soft chuckle.
"You should at least buy me coffee first, before manhandling me." He takes the offered hand to get up on his good leg. And then wobbles over to sit down into the armchair.

So sayeth the big green figure watering the overgrown planters in the nexus's courtyard. He's got multiple vines watering multiple plants all at once growing out of the plant matter of his body. One lifts above his head, still holding the can.
"My apologize."

He scrawls an answer on the ground for the injured twoleg.
I choose the rock. I can climb on rocks. He demonstrates, holding out wickedly hooked claws.
no subject
Is the dinosaur writing something on the ground?
Peter laughs at the answer. Okay. A funny dinosaur.
"Those claws not good in hard places then?"
no subject
He likes this twoleg. He gives the closest he can to a smile before he writes an an answer.
Smooth ground is harder to walk on. It breaks.
If there's one thing he's learned, he's never going to set foot on glass again.

Ah, this boy is no threat.
His question gives Thor pause, though. His most recent example is still a bit fresh to give, he feels. "I once had to choose between pursuing my heart, or my duty to my people."
no subject
"That would be a tough decision."
"What did you do?"
no subject
He offers one strong hand to the boy. "Surely a chair will be more comfortable," he suggests, effortlessly shifting the subject.
