Loki: Worst Matchmaker Ever?
Loki has a peculiar way of preparing to speak: he does not clear his throat or straighten his clothes or loosen his collar, but merely takes long, slow strides into an open spot. There are no stages in the area of the Nexus in which he finds himself, but the way he stands and opens his arms--all grace and hubris--seems to make the flat plain ground around him into his personal catwalk, the diffuse light around him his own personal spotlight.
You may not take him seriously, but you'd be hard-pressed not to notice his presence.
"Nexus, if I may bend your collective ears for a moment? I have a simple, if heartfelt, request."
I would like to see if my big brother is capable of feeling embarrassment.
"I am the younger sibling of Thor Odinson, a man--nay, a god--of great power, courage, and nobility. There are few who equal him in battle, and until now I would say few who equal him in the realm of the heart. Alas, it seems that at this time in his life, events in our world have wounded his confidence greatly. I wish to build him back up, so to speak, but my best efforts thus far have fallen flat."
"Frankly, I feel that his alteration in hairstyle, clumsy and poorly-planned though it may be, suits the peculiar shape of his head far better than his previous, doll-like golden tresses. There is a certain simplicity to his change of outfit that matches with the simplicity characteristic of his thought patterns. A change for the better, certainly, and moreover it shows his true mettle, the way he has no fear of appearing as the leader and representative of our people with his cape tattered at the hem and unmended, as if he has of late escaped from the engine of our borrowed space vessel."
"Nexus, friends, what more can I tell him to restore his pride? You will find him nearby, I think, if you wish to get a look at him, or if he finds himself too shy to observe this conversation I am certainly capable of producing images to show what he looks like. All compliments directed at him will be accepted with gratitude, and perhaps one of you will even find it in your heart to court him, however temporarily. I cannot guarantee he will be amenable, as he is so very timid of late, but I think it would do his heart well to experience a flirtation once more."

"What would you accept as payment, in that case, for your assistance with his wardrobe?" They're kind of space-refugees at the moment, but barter might be possible.

She blinks and then rubs her chin in thought. Not quite sure what might be acceptable or equal value in his economic system. She Tried not to judge someone or their circumstances at first glance. "Well, it depends on yer means ahem I mean..what sort of system for such things do yer Homerealm use?" She asks gently and warmly trying to be non-chantant and polite. Such things we're some times touchy subjects regardless.

"Some coinage from our realm remains," he says, "but without the power of a kingdom to back it, I could not tell you what the exchange value may be."
He's perfectly capable of stealing anything that's not nailed down, too, but suggesting that is a poor way to open trade negotiations. "I might also be willing to owe you a favor, if that is of any interest to you."
Now that's a dangerous proposition, on both sides. Is it scarier to owe a favor to a Trickster, or to be owed one?

She blinks and hums, "Well ahem I'd suggest holding onto that for now, in that case, if I were you. We do have a rather large and expansive library hereabouts..perhaps you could find out there. " She suggests good-naturedly. The word 'remains' perks her ears up..something about it. As well as the other sentence. Her gaze goes sympathetic. "Ah..sounds like you've all been through some troubles." She murmurs she knew a thing or two about being torn away from one's home.
She tilts her head slightly to the other way and softly, clears her throat. "Mayhaps." She states diplomatically and thoughtfully polite. After all, she didn't know if he was a man of charater or his word or not. Thor and Cap would be a whole nother matter entirely. Their integrity and word as bond in certain matters when it counted most was well known among certain circles.

He eyes her thoughtfully. "It is my brother who will guide our destiny, as is his right as king." Especially since Loki won't be around long enough to challenge him, even if he wanted to, which he's not sure he does at this point in his life.
"But since I have your ear, perhaps you would have practical suggestions to avoid contagion in close quarters as we journey." Asgardians are a hardy folk, but it's not impossible that they should fall prey to illness.

She shivers slightly, "I'm ..sorry to hear it, but I am glad many of your people were able to get to safety.. " She states sincerely. "Tis a large burden and hard thing I'm sure." She replies in regards to both. Heavy is the head and all that.
said ears perk up a bit at that. "Ah, yes that's rather important." She agrees with a nod and rubs her chin in thought. "I'm certain you know about..the importance of not sharing certain things if such is suspected..do you have reliable ways of storing and filtering water and the like? " She asks softly. Not entirely certain as to the state of the ship that they likely had to make quick work of preparing. But still it must be somewhat large..ish. In fact, it sounded not dissimilar to the town where she and the others had been transported to due to the Dark Curse.
Course StoryBrooke could be a powder keg at times what with all the personalities, Heroes and Villians that we're in one place or traveled to it when certain conditions were met.

He has a bad reputation. Still, that hurt quite a bit.
"Our soldiers were...they sacrificed themselves," he says with a grimace. "But most of our civilians made it to safety."
He doesn't have the heart to be proud of that, even if he's technically the one that made sure there was a big ship there to carry them away from the battle.
"There was a two-stage water filter system," he says. "Potable water to graywater, recycled until it was no longer reliably clean, then converted to blackwater tanks. It's a serviceable system, but I would venture to say the ship isn't truly designed for a long voyage in space. Shorter travels within a solar system, yes. Carrying hundreds of souls hundreds of light years to a safe harbor...not so much."
Better than nothing, though. Much.

"Ah..I see..hmmmh." She murmurs and nods rubbing her chin as she goes pensive. "So..it could become easily..overtasked at some point." She half asks half hopes they can..find something before it does so.."I don't suppose ya..have ermm know what a warp engine is or something or that sort?" She asks softly..maybe..Captain Kirk..could be of assistance in such a case..or..maybe..well she hadn't seen anyone from the 'Star Wars' universes yet..but that didn't mean they weren't out there.
She wasn't a mechanic or engineer... but she was semi-good at networking..most of the time.

He is less monstrous than he thought. It's an interesting revelation.
"I have not investigated the engines yet." Haha, nor will he get a chance to now, because he's not going to be able to go back. But she doesn't have to know that. "I don't know your terminology, either. We do have the advantage of some magic-workers aboard, at least, but mixing magic with technology can be delicate work."
no subject
"Ah, it's um a special sort of engine that can make..jumps in..I think light years..or hyperspace very very fast." She does her best to expand upon at least some parts of things she knew about. "If ya come across anyone who's part of the crew of an Enterprise..they'd likely know more about it. " She adds hoping to point him and or Thor in the right direction. Next time she ran into him.
"Ah..yes..that's true." She murmurs her face softens slightly like she's recalling a few instances of..where things have meshed well or not at all when someones tried as much. "I know..in some realms such things can take better than others..." She informs him gently but in a cautiousing way. She'd hate for something to blow up in someone's face. Especially if they didn't deserve it. "Aye there are some folks hereabouts who..have such abilities as well..they'd likely know if there's anything about that could be of help doing such..I've..not gotten a chance to explore some parts of this place as of yet myself." She states and slightly sheepishly rubs the back of her neck.
"It's rather Wonderlandian sometimes hereabouts in it shuffling of places and the like." She explains softly. It has always been a theory of her's that a being such as Bacchus would favor such a place as the former..and mayhaps the Nexus as well. There we're those Stayr /Faun like beings that had a festival going during spring.
no subject
"Well. You have been very hospitable, and generous with your suggestions. Is there anything I may do for you in return?"
no subject
"Ahem." She smiles warmly, "oh well yer most welcome and I do try happy to be of help." She replies warmly and sincere. "Well um.." She murmurs a mite mulling that over not many folks make that sort of offer on the regular. She rubs her chin. "I might have to think on that..to be honest." keeping her tone polite with a slightly sheepish smile. She knew some folks had their pride after all.
And if his people were in such dire straits.. "Perhaps..we can..discuss things further..with yerself and your brother..once ya'll a bit more settled?" She half suggests warmly in compromise. No need to be hasty after all. Besides she had a feeling she might need to do some chatting with Thor if she was going to do anything to help his wardrobe.
no subject
He offers a hand to her, and if permitted to take hers, he will bow and give her a light kiss to the backs of her knuckles. "I did not catch your name, I'm afraid. However may I find you again, once we're settled?"
no subject
"Oh yes well, I think perhaps the Library would be the best spot to...er meet up at." She states half in thought and pats at one of her pockets looking for something. "Though if I'm not there.." She adds pulling out a small round crystal and murmuring a charm in Gaelic under her breath, it gleams softly around the edges for a moment as she tosses it in the air a little and catches it again. Before opening her hand where it's on the palm of her left hand. And offers it toward him. "This should start glowing and heading in my direction." She informs him. It also had a charm to let her know when company was coming if her other senses or wards didn't alert her.
no subject
"I am Loki Odinson, Prince of Asgard." She may have guessed that already, granted, given his reference to his big brother Thor. "And I imagine I will be spending a great deal of time at the Library."
He blinks and watches the flip and glimmer of the crystal in the air. A type of charm not unlike his own capabilities, but the method feels different than how he works. He has a brief moment of mild alarm when she offers the gem to him. It's frighteningly trusting of her, when it comes down to it.
He's not about to turn it down, though. He bows in thanks, accepting the charm, and tucks it into a pocket in his tunic. "Thank you. I will look forward to speaking again, then."

Her eyebrows go up slightly, but yes Thor reference kinda had her narrowing the options down."Ah.." She nods her head slightly in respect but keeps her eyes on him. "It's been a pleasure to met you, Sire." She replies sincerely and politely. With a friendly small smile. Her ears perk up yes, another Bibliophile. She could appreciate that. "Glad to hear it."
Well, she feels better about doing that then say giving her number out etc. having just met him and all. And the Library was a public spot and neutral enough ground she figures. Though Emergencies had to be concerned as well. Especially if any part of the Odinsons' reputation was true.
She inclines her head and at least does a slight half one in return in an almost automatic sort of mirroring gesture. She wasn't quite sure of all their sort of protocols and the like. So it seemed like the best route to take. "Your most welcome and likewise." She replies warmly and polite. She had a feeling Thor might need help keeping an eye on his little brother at the very least. She'd hate for him to go through what she had.
