Smile when your Heart is Breaking and even though your aching.
Under a shady tree not far from some spot between one of the Cafe's and a announcement, or pin/cork board a black German Sheppard is nudging a pretty descent size cardboard/shipping like box into place. There's a quilt mostly covering the top, The smell of cheese crumpets and some other baked goods waft up from inside. There's a medium size dry erase board and marker hanging from a tack outside. With the question, 'What do you do when your feeling down?, In the Dumps or Melancholy? ' She checks to make sure it's secure before hoping inside. An ear twitching or eye mite be visible now and again. But mostly she'd curled up feeling emotionally and physically drained, her head pillowed on a lovely blue scarf. She lovingly rubs her check against the soft cashmere.
Which was on of the last gift's she'd gotten from a dear friend and heart brother and a well loved home made plush mouse, in a deerstalker and tweed outfit. She gently gums at an ear perhaps out of habit or thought between Half heartedly trying to nibble on a snack, and laying a bit listless. Half hoping..she mind see a friendly face or two while the other half doubted anyone would be bothered or care to notice. A part of her trying to hold onto hope another part felt like she was running on fumes. A person could only take so much heartache let alone doing one's best and failing for the most part over and over again.

Making herself comfortable, she sits down next to the box and continues petting her. She still has no clue that this is her friend, but she's pretty sure that this is no ordinary canine. "I'm sorry you're feeling sad. Did you want to -- er...."
Well, she was going to say 'talk about it', but she's not sure if that's possible. Oh, but the dog must have written on the dry erase board, yes? She wipes her answer clean to make room, then offers the pen to Aal, to see if she'd like to answer.

Her eyes soften, in gratitude. She tilts her head curiously and cutely but not too far from the pets. As she listens
She blinks and smiles softly and then gently takes the end of it. Writing out, 'I try help..think I made worse.' Her ears droop. 'Always do.' She adds sniffles and leans her head down against the box. Probably got too excited or..fricking came off as creepy or something..She really did try not to though.
no subject
Her heart swells in sympathy at both her reply and the way her ears droop. She resumes petting her, this time reassuringly. "I definitely know how that feels," she confesses. "It's terrible... but I bet you help more often than not. You're very sweet."
no subject
She leans into the pets and nuzzled her with her furred check. And gently, slowly goes to her hind legs for a moment to try and get closer before picking up one of the folded blankets with her teeth and offering it towards her. She would have set on out earlier but she didn't know if many folks would have stuck around or come to visit etc at all. "Roo." she hums softly and erases and writes again, 'Aye tis, and I trys thank you. '
no subject
"Ash?" She laughs and goes back to petting her friend's head. "Oh, wow, I didn't know it was you at first. I'm sorry." When she's presented with the blanket, she takes it in her hand, briefly confused before realizing what it was being offered for. "Thanks. Just give me a second..."
She spreads it out and sits upon it, making herself more comfortable. Remembering her coffee, she takes a sip, looking over what Ash is writing. "Is it easier for you to write than talk while you're in this form?" she asks. "I don't want to make you have to write everything out if you don't need to."
no subject
And then sits and waits. "Mmh some times." She murmurs after a moment. She looks at her paw and then softly sighs. "thumb thumb hiding." She half mutters fondly but a little tired.
no subject
The comment on her paw makes Adia smile wryly. "Yeah, unfortunately canines don't have opposable thumbs. Must be annoying." She pets Ash's head again and takes another sip of coffee. Funny that Ash doesn't simply shift back... she blinks and looks over her friend thoughtfully. "Do you feel better when you take this form?" she asks quietly. "Is it comforting?"
no subject
She nods, "Can..sometimes shift tween..or little..but.." She murmurs and slightly trails off looking down at her front paw again. "mhh.." She murmurs in thought looking up and then toward the middle distance for a moment. "Sometimes..tis..easier..and folks..like Doggies better.." She explains her eyes lowering a little and her ears drooping down in subconscious reaction or give away to inner feelings. Canines were oft more open with such after all then most people. Aal slightly glances away for a moment a might guiltily.

It makes sense to her that Ash would want to appear as non-threatening as possible, especially after her unfortunate attempt at trying to help someone. She doesn't miss how she looks away as if a little ashamed. "I like you whatever form you're in," she says, giving Ash a reassuring smile. "I don't think many people here would bat an eye at a wolf, but that's very kind of you to think of what other people might find most comfortable."
no subject
She gives a little smile. "Thanks.." Her smile goes a little warmer. "You and Dor have that in common." She chuckles softly. She did like to hope her mate/husband and her friends would get along after all. "Well I try..Besides some folks..come from..places and backgrounds that would not..as well." She informs and reminds a little softly.
no subject
Adia smiles at the comparison to Ash's husband. She has only met him briefly, but he seems like a kind man. "I'm glad to hear it," she says sincerely. She pets Ash behind an ear and sighs softly, nodding in acknowledgement to the rest of her words. "Yeah... it's unfortunate, especially when it's unintentional. I've been spooked by certain people here before, and it wasn't their fault... was that what happened, with the person you tried to help? Are they scared of wolves? Shapeshifters?"
no subject
She smiles softly and leans into the pets. "Aye..and ahem well not this time." Though it has happened before..Even in the Nexus..and vice versa. Her eyes and nose twitch and more about a little. .No she was not gonna bring up their.. mutual..' friend.' right now. "I think ermm." She sighs and lays her head on the box again. "I was trying a bit too hard." Though she did her best to be friendly and not say try and hug said person the moment she saw them. No matter how much he and her heart brother had looked alike..The former had acted much younger in both age and development or maturity and character growth than the one she'd known..and helped through some of the same before.
"Though it is difficult to prove to someone whose very logically minded how real something is.." She rubs the back of her own head. Though some things could lead them to a proper conclusion. She wasn't a genius..but she knew how some people ticked.

Their mutual cage-wearing 'friend' does not even cross Adia's mind while Ash explains. It's been well over a year since she's seen him, although if they did cross paths again, she'd be reminded to give him a talking-to about his behavior. That's a nearly constant theme with him and his prejudices, anyway. The problem that Ash describes sounds more complicated than that, anyway. She furrows her brow and takes another sip of coffee while she thinks it over.
"They're new to the Nexus?" she guesses. "I always try to help people who are new. This place is so disorienting, even with the pamphlets. I'm sorry they reacted badly... they probably will be better behaved once they're more settled?" She hopes, anyway. It bothers her that Ash was doing a kindness and was spurned in response.
no subject
She hums in the affirmative, "HHmmmmhh. ahem Aye..hence..well doubly why I wanted to see if I could be of assistance." She replies and sighs a little her shoulders sagging a little. And no doubt she was either rusty and or a tad bit over-excited but she does her best to reign such impulses in...as much as she can. She doesn't just jump all over people..well physically leastwise..Verbally..well sometimes she could ramble and such. Though that can also be a nervous trait some of the time.
She wryly smirks at that.."For a Sherlock that usually takes a Watson and half a crew.." She murmurs half in caution half in fondness. Her eyes soften...Or great heartache and mental etc anguish and she did not wish to see anyone go though such if she could help it. But..she also knew..a rocked bone had to be broken sometimes to mend right. She hangs her head a little. "I doubt he'll wish to see me again let alone talk to me." She murmurs tears starting to form in her eyes as she closes them a lump in thoart. She failed though..Least in her human form..He did rather love dogs. Least her heart brother did..It could be worth a try..Well if he didn't run into some portal or trouble trying to find a way out of the nexus.
She swallows thickly..though she hoped someone more..successfully could direct him somewhere and he wouldn't get mixed into some unsavoury business..He was a detective after all..and sticky wickets had been Sherlock 'Prime's' cup of tea. But the younger one..Lords Above..what would he write magic off as? She swallows and looks extremely concerned and worried..."Aida..we need to make sure he's ok...Who knows what kind of troubles he's got into!" She states quickly as a slight urge of panic takes hold of her as she half paces and readies to jump out the box to try and scent for his trail again.
She been blindedsided by emotional pain before and she thought it best to let him cool off then try and follow him before..
no subject
She's unsurprised that Ash would want to help someone new to the Nexus. Although the way she refers to this person -- Sherlock -- it sounds like she knows him, or at least an alternate of him. But the name means nothing to her, as she's never met the detective, or read any of his books. She only has Ash's description of him to go on, which makes him sound like the type who can get into trouble all on his own, without help from the Nexus.
Right now, however, her concern is all on her friend, who is getting more anxious by the minute. "Hey, it's okay. I'll help you find him," she promises, her voice a calm contrast to Ash's pacing. "I don't know what he looks like or anything about him, though. Can you tell me more about him?"
no subject
"Dor Dor like's ear scratches and belly rubs..but the latter not from strangers." She adds, Dor was a good boy and playful. Although she wouldn't discount some of a certain former Angel's court being friendly flirty at the very least.
She pants a little, and pauses though she still sniffing.."Sorry..just.." She pants a bit again looking around a mite distraught. "He's .. the only sort of power is his intelligence..but he's..so so.." She makes a motion like someone diving/jumping. "He sometimes jumps before he looks..long. " She tries to explain. Some mite call it hyper..or reckless. Dashing into danger. She ruffles her top hair/fur with her left paw. "Though if he does zero in on ya..He's like a whirlwind of emotion and brashness."
"He's tall. lanky.about six foot, curly dark hair, " She draws in a deep breath and let's it out.."Wears usually some sort of suit or..least dress shirt, slacks..a long coat and blue scarf..sometimes a deerstalker but not always..and has very intense and color-changing eyes..typically like a blue or sea green.." She begins trying not to info dump but well she asked.

It's a little bit fascinating how much Ash's behavior translates to that of a canine when she's in this form, Adia thinks to herself. "It's all right," she says reassuringly. "I'd be worried, too, from the way you describe him. At least the anti-violence field is working, he should be okay for a little while." So long as he doesn't get in the wrong person's face, anyway.
The physical description is helpful, although without anything more distinct than that, he'd be hard to pick out of a crowd. "Okay. And where did you see him last? In the Plaza?"
no subject
No thank you. Though yes that's half why she probably was half more spazzing out or something right now. She lets out a sighy kind of whine and tries to half encircle her friend bodily loosely half in comfort half protectively. Like a guard/family dog would round their owner when they hear some odd noise and is trying to figure weither should chase or stick close to 'Alpha' or pack. "I hope so..he's got filter issues..tis probably more likely we'll hear..him or something before we see him." She murmurs. And true he had been known to be dramatic.. But there was worse outlets..he'd dealt with in his past.
Though he wasn't a drinker.."He also well he's been trying to quit smoking..and such." They might find him round certain places that offer such things. She just hoped he didn't go looking for harder things. His mind often could get too much when he was foreign on all cylinders.. Though she thinks the Nexus would be mystery enough for him..but maybe overwhelming? " I hope I didn't make it worse." She murmurs closing her eyes and grimacing.
John or heck rather Molly and Mary would be better for this sort of thing then she would be probably..But as she hadn't run into anyone..of that sort yet. Or Toby even..the cute widdle bassety hound who was her Sherlock's companion or Molly's tabby who shared the name funny enough.
She blinks and stops her sniffing for a moment paw mid air.."Erm..yes.." She nods, "Aye.. Not too long ago..Thought it best to let him calm down a bit. He was..wondering if anyone could prove to him that this place was real..or proof of it..He ah..could mentally construct such a place in his head ya see..it's one of his techniques..And if he lost himself deep enough..well..he'd have a hard time telling.." She does her best to explain. Feeling even more guilty. Her eyes soften as she looks down looking half for tracks and half..she sighs..possibly answers or..an idea..something..There had to be something she could do..And she didn't wish to freak him out neither..if and when they found him.

She's still not happy that Sherlock took out his fear and confusion on Ash, who was only trying to help, but the shapeshifter obviously cares for him, and she's willing to help her friend. At the very least, knowing that he's okay will give her some peace of mind.
The protective half-circle around her is sweet, and Adia smiles briefly. "So he's got a lot going on, then," she murmurs. Not just an abrasive attitude, but possibly some withdrawal symptoms, too. Great. Although when Ash mentions the fact that he can become lost in his own mental constructions, she pales noticeably. "But... he's human, yeah? Not... I mean, he's not..." She trails off and shakes her head, a little embarrassed. "Sorry, it's just... that's a skill some people on my island have. The Cylons. And I can do it now, too, but I've never gotten so lost in it that I couldn't tell reality from my imagination." She takes a deep breath. "They can be incredibly vivid, though... do you think that's why he didn't listen to you? Because he thought you were a hallucination?"

His Younger Alternate..however. "Aye, I hope so..most folks have little patience when it comes to him and vice versa. Ahem. Not jumping to conclusions is a skill everyone should learn but not many master." She murmurs with a little wry sigh. One might guess where she learned that from.
She hums and nods half muzzles the nearest part of her friend she can reach with her check. She murmurs softly. "When one eliminates the impossible.. whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." She half quotes. "aye..always." She murmurs in response to his business. Her lip twitches a little. "Busy like a Bee..he likes those." She murmurs her tone soft. "Well this one is yes..I didn't smell any other scents least wise.."So unless he could mask it..twas doubtful..Though one never knew with those that bore those features.
She smiles kindly. "Tis fine Adia..I like learning bout new things.." She gently reassures. "Oh do they? Interesting." She murmurs and rubs her chin..Seems she asked the right friend to help then. Not that she wouldn't try to recruit whoever else they could maybe find willing too..She tilts her head. "He would likely have said if he thought so..thin filter about such..But ah.." She pauses and clears her thaort. Her ears scanning for sounds.
As she glances at her paws. "Ahem..tis likely I came on too strong or something in some manner." Though she really tried not to..All she did was set out a chair some nibbles and a pillow and blanket..it had likely been her tone..yes..creepy wolf..bad..She slightly scuffs at her head in reprimaind.
no subject
Adia smiles at the cheek rub, not minding the way Ash leans into her. "Is that something he says?" she asks in reference to the quote. "He's going to have a hard with that here. Sometimes I feel like nothing's impossible in the Nexus..."
Ash's reassurance relaxes her shoulders. "I don't mind talking about it," she replies. "I just... um, was remembering a similar situation of someone stuck in their mental projection... but you don't think that's why he didn't listen to you?" Her brows furrow while Ash explains, and then she sighs and resumes petting Ash's head, both in comfort and an attempt to prevent her from scuffing at herself again. "Oh, Ash... I'm sorry. I've done that before, too. I'm sure you didn't come on too strong. From the way you describe him, I'm not sure he would have taken offered help from anyone."
no subject
"Err..mayhaps..I mean..if he's.." She pauses trying to figure out the best words.."Deduction or logic reasoning is up to speed..Or if he doesn't follow..a mood.." She murmurs..Sometimes if he got an idea in his head it took quite a lot to disway him etc of it. Unless.."If there's evidence..to the fact." She murmurs..She just hope he wouldn' met someone who would 'short circuit' or overwhelms him so to speak. She didn't want him to break down in some manner after all.
"Aye..tis." She murmurs softly with a small fond smile and sighs."Aye, don't I know it..Least I'm been..to Wonderland..this one..would probably be doing various experiments if he could control a portal..least till he figured it all out.." She preferred..books and talking to people first and the like for her research. And proper safety and etc equipment before going to the next stage of development as it were.
She smiles softly. "Aye..I mean..he mite at some point if something..blows his mind so to speak.." She mutters wryly. "Aye..He ah turned tail and walked off rather quietly after he deduced..incorrectly..but not how the one I would normally..just the.." She swallows a lump thickly. " ahem getting away from the situation I don't like kind of walk."
She sighs, and glances up with sad puppy eyes, "It's not yer fault Aidas, " she shurgs a little and lowers her gaze again quietly sniffing the air a little never the less. "Well he was..asking questions..so..though I'd least try..Besides..he still a Holmes even if he's not my Squeaky." She murmurs soft and low. It didn't feel right leaving him alone neither..But perhaps..Her shoulders sag. Sometimes she wondered why she bothered..but she wouldn't and couldn't just give up either.
