oversized shoes and long luxurious locks
After the Dawning event, Rapunzel had received some advice on where to purchase shoes. So now the previously barefoot woman is proudly wearing a pair of men's shoes, that are two sizes too big for her. She sits on the edge of a fountain in the Nexus, admiring a lily that had floated by.
The long, long, long cascading length of her hair is wrapped around the base of the fountain a few times.
"Did you know that some flowers have meaning to them?" She excitedly asks someone who was walking by. "I just learned that the Oenothera means wine seeker. Which is funny... because I don't even know what wine is..."
"Should I be seeking some wine?" She asks again, just as excited.
"There are so many things I have never tried before... if you had to experience something for the first time, all over again... what would it be?"

A few paces past the strange young woman and her flood of questions, he stops abruptly. What better way to burn off a bit of anger than to take it out on someone else? He turns on his heel and traces his steps back to the girl.
"What are you talking about?" he demands, arms akimbo. "You don't even know what wine is? Are you stupid?"
no subject
"Mother never let me have wine." She answers meekly.

"Does your mother know you're here?" he asks teasingly, crossing his arms.

"You should never have left."

Rapunzel steadies herself slightly. "What would you know about what I need to do?"

The young man opens his mouth to ask about these sky lanterns, but a memory crystalizes: a clear night and warm, glowing shapes mirrored in the glassy surface of dark canals. He makes a sound of disgust.
"What's so important about some stupid lanterns?"
no subject
"They make me feel like they are being put in the sky, because of me. I want to see them in person."

If he had planned on continuing to berate her, the appeal to his expertise stokes the flames of his ego and instead, he takes a seat on the fountain, lifting away a length of hair, brow arched.
"You want to know how to make it in the world? It's simple." He rubs the fresh scar on his cheek as he rattles off his best pieces of misbegotten advice: "Be careful who you trust. Keep your eye out for witches. Never apologize. Always get in the first attack."

His hand moves to cup his chin. He gives Rapunzel a sideways glance. "How did you end up in this miserable, cursed place? You ran away from home and then what?"

A-ha! He smiles and raises an index finger before pulling out a dagger. "Here. I'll cut it for you. Easy!"
no subject
Rapunzel stands, and with a spin collects all her length of hair around her.
"No. I do not want it cut." She says it loud enough, that even the Nexus itself would consider the act as violence. And prevent any violence to her hair.
no subject
"Oh, calm down, girl," he says with rolled eyes and a careless wave of his dagger. "It was just an idea."
The blade is grudgingly returned to it's sheath with a metallic hiss. "You're just as weird as the rest of this place, aren't you?"

He tosses it into the fountain, frightening away some milling fish. "No doubt the witch is blocking me from going home."

Rapunzel's careful distance is duly noted. His head cocks to one side. "If you're afraid of me, why don't you just run away?"
no subject
She is not running away either.

He stands, sputtering, gesticulating. "Augh! You don't ... you don't even know what wine is!"
