+1 Doctor

The Doctor arrives in the Nexus.  And he's not sure how he got here.  Not that it matters.  He has no TARDIS and no memories of Clara.  All he has are the clothes on his back, his sonic specks, and his trusty guitar.  Okay, he has a little rucksack filled with a change of clothes and other odds and ends that he's collected on his quest.

He looks around and this place looks... rather American, considering.  Of course, everything looked American to him these days, he's spent far too long in the States looking first for the TARDIS and then for Clara.  He so far has been unsuccessful at both.

"Excuse me, has anyone seen someone called Clara?"

"That's ok. I'm used to that."

How many times had he had to prove himself? Link had lost count by this point.


"I'm not bragging. It's what the sages called me. Older-Zelda said I should have a childhood, but, I'm not very good at it. I keep finding people who need my help. I...like helping people."

The Doctor can't argue with that. In the end, it was one of the reasons why he left Gallifrey.

"Do you seek them out, or do they seek you out?"

Because, these days, the Doctor is still sought, even though he deleted himself from history as much as he could.

"I think it's fate. The Deku tree knew I had a different destiny, so maybe it's less me and more the goddesses or something.

I don't always look for people, but, I seem to find them. In Hyrule they'd seek me out a little, but, in Termina that was all...chance. They needed me..."

Link rocked on his heels and scuffed his boots like any other little boy while he spoke.

"That's a lot of responsibility for someone who looks so young... Do you remember being older?"

Shifting attention from himself again, because deflection is a good thing.

"I was taller and stronger, but, that was pretty much the only difference. They said I was too young to be the Hero, so they sealed me away for seven years so my body could grow up."

Link didn't know if there was a difference in his thinking when he was "older" or not.

"Interesting. I was stuck in a place and the only thing that aged was my mind. How did it go for you?"

To be fair, most things new or different are interesting to the Doctor.

[younghero]

"I was asleep, so I don't remember those years."

Link scratched his ear. "But, Zelda gave me that time back after we defeated Ganondorf."

"How did she manage that?"

Because he's a Time Lord and even he can't do that.

[younghero]

"She's a sage...and she used the Ocarina of Time."

Short answer: Magic.

[not_the_question]

"This... Ocarina of Time... What is it? How does it work? What does it do?"

Because Time is his thing. Why would anyone mess with the fabric of time?

[younghero]

Link held up the cobalt and gold instrument. "My Zelda gave it back to me. If you play the right song you can travel through time....or across Hyrule."

He'd play to demonstrate, but he didn't know if it would work here.

"Music as time travel... the TARDIS would be jealous. What's Hyrule?"

All these foreign names. He's not in the states now. Where had he ended up. And why?

[younghero]

"It's a world....a kingdom. The Gorons, Zora, Hylians, Kokiri all live there. Termina is another world, it's almost a mirror of Hyrule in some ways. I've been to both."

Link was glad he had found someone who believed him.

"Ah different planets and different... ruling parties."

Okay, he can work with that. He's done all sorts of travelling.

"So... how did you end up here?"

Wherever 'here' is....

[younghero]

"I walked. S'better than getting to Termina, I fell there."

Link smiled a little.

"You fell. Like walked off the edge of your planet and fell to that one?"

Oh his head. He'll get back to 'walking' here. That doesn't surprise him as much, since he had been dozing in a truck and woke up here... he thinks.

[younghero]

"I think magic was used, but, yeah."

He sincerely hoped this place needed less saving than Termina. Watching people die over and over was too much even for him.

Right. Creepy, but not entirely unheard of...

"So, do you know where we are now?"

[younghero]

"No sir."

Link looked around and shook his head. Things looked fairly alien to him.

"So let me get this straight: You don't know where we are. You walked to get here. When other things have happened, it has been by magic. And you think you can help me find Clara?"

Doctor doesn't believe anything now, Link, sorry.

[younghero]

Link sighed. Without warning he gave a cry and kicked over a large planter of mums, shattering it.

"Watch."

He lifted the ocarina and played a lullaby, his Zelda's lullaby. He swayed gently, closing his eyes. As Link played, the planter repaired itself, so that not so much as a leaf was out of place.

"See?"

"Very atmospheric. Not the part I care about."

He pauses.

"Unless it will take me to Clara."

[younghero]

"Unless she's in a Temple, probably not."

[not_the_question]

"then my doubt of your ability to help me is sound. Don't take it so personally."

Because, seriously? That was quite the overreaction.

"Huh?"

Link was puzzled. "Those are the only places it has taken me to..."
