Welcome Committee
There's been so many fresh faces to the Nexus recently, and more than a few of them have been children. Questions about finding a way home, about trying to decide if they want to go home. People wondering what to do now...
There are a few tables set out this morning in the Plaza in front of a small cafe loaded with several caraffes of coffee, breakfast pastries from more than a few different worlds and cultures, and a large pan of eggs and sausage kept warm over a chafing dish. On either end of the table are disposable plates, cups, and cutlery as well as a few welcome pamphlets in a small container. Along the front of the tables is a hand made banner.
"Meet and Greet"
Manning the tables is Katsuya Suou, red apron on and a cup of coffee in hand. He looks far too cheerful for how early in the morning it is.
"Right then, is anyone hungry? Have any questions about the nexus?"
((OOC: Feel free to mingle and threadjump in this thread. I'm trying to get people who have yet to meet to interact, so do not feel obligated to only reply to me!))

"Didn't even hear you sit down." She's closing her book now, worried that it'll take up too much space on the table. She also fears losing her reading material to a spilled glass of orange juice or coffee, which might just happen.
"Having a pretty good morning so far? Are the baked goods worth checking out at all?"
no subject
"Oh, I can't say it's been bad. Kinda cool to see everyone turn out." He says with a slight smile. For a moment, he almost blurts out about trying the pastelitos, but then he remembers he was in costume for that part.
"Ah. No. I had breakfast before I knew this was going on. Might grab a snack for the road, though. After I finish my drink." Then he thinks you ask, "are you new here, too?"
no subject
"Thank you!" He sounds enthusiastic to find himself a place to sit so he can enjoy a hot meal.
He sits himself down and he lifts a hand up to move his hair from out of his eyes. "I guess this is what happens when I decided to come late, and I'm just happy that there was still plenty of food left." His eyes look at the scrambled eggs and sausage like a child looks at candy in a candy store. And it doesn't take him long to spear one of many sausages with his fork and bite into it.
"As for your question, yes, I just arrived here not too long ago." Vaclav looks between the two. "Name's Vaclav Koller."
no subject
She'd offer Vaclay a handshake, but completely understands the art of wanting to eat first. Instead, she just flashes a smile to both of them.
"Same. I hopped in a few weeks ago by accident, but I was able to get back home easier than most. Now the Nexus is a pretty great place to relax and take a break."
Her hands wrap around the warm mug of coffee, but she's not rushing to take a drink. It's rather fun talking with new people from new worlds. "What about you two? Is this your second home or a new place to start one?"
no subject
Yikes, there he goes almost blurting out something else he shouldn't have. What is it with him today? He should remind himself not to go back to the same place he's been hanging out as Spider-man all morning.
"... miss my family." He says and then, coughs a dry cough. "I found my door pretty quickly, so. I've been able to travel back and forth without much trouble."
no subject
He swallows his food, and he looks between both Candela and Miles. "I'm going to be living here." He admits. "Things back home aren't exactly going so great, and I figured this place beats living in a sewer and..." He isn't sure how to explain the rest, so he goes to stab another sausage and take a bite of it.
"But missing one's family is a good enough reason not to want to go back and forth. So what do you both intend to make of your time here other than taking a break?"
no subject
"I do a lot of research back home, so I might starting using the Nexus to help me out with that. Or as a new place to get exercise. Sometimes being a home can get a little hectic, so the peace and quiet helps." She finally takes a sip of coffee, enjoying the unique blend.
"Don't know what all I can do, but if you need help Vaclav, I can try to be of assistance. No sense in leaving someone who needs help stranded."
no subject
"For me this is kinda my escape spot?" He says, trying to explain at least a little of something real. "I get overwhelmed sometimes with school and everything, so it's nice to have a place to relax."
"But, uh, I agree with Candela. If there's any way we can help. I'm in too."
no subject
"I've had a business as an underground neuroplastic surgeon back home, and well I had to leave all of my stuff behind." He tries to look and sound hopeful as he starts to formulate a plan in his head. "And well I'd like to see if it is possible to go back home, and to get my stuff here without causing too much trouble. But the problem is, my portal is nowhere near my beloved dungeon and the surface is a very dangerous place for people like me."
And he takes another bite of the delicious sausage. "And just as dangerous for people like you. And I'd be a bit upset if someone here got hurt in the process. I was going to ask my friend, but he's already got a lot on his hands."
no subject
But this place is one heck of a place for a genetically modified raccoon that is looking to get into trouble. "But so long as I get something out of it, I'll be willing to lend out a hand." He takes the sausage in his furry hand and he nibbles on it.
"And name's Rocket, and that there tree on my back is Groot."
no subject
"Do you know how far away the portal is? What kind of dangers are we talking about?" If it's something moderately doable, she might be in. Valor represents being strong in the face of danger and she embodies that spirit 100 percent, so the idea of invading another world isn't out of the picture.
"Getting your equipment back to the Nexus might not be too difficult. Depends on the size and weight, but I might have some friends who can help out with that task." Oh dear, she's already coming up with plans. Can anyone with a brain talk her down from this? Miles?
Or maybe her brain just stops working when she sees the raccoon and tree combo sneak up to the table. They look just like a Zigzagoon and a Budew together. "Woah! You slipped up on us, Mr. Rocket."
no subject
And the last time he saw Rocket, he was literally kicking the guy as hard as he could. Not that he had anything against him, but they were on different sides at the time ... fml.
Maybe this is a version of Rocket, like the other versions of heroes he's seen around here, who are from a different reality. God he hopes so.
"I um." He clears his throat. "Well, if we're all working together it might not be so bad. Plus, I'm a little bit stronger than I look?"
no subject
But to answer Candela's question, Vaclav does so with a cup of coffee in hand and a fork in the other. This time he doesn't bother with the rest of the food on his plate. Instead, he goes to put the fork down, and he slides what is left to the side. And he reaches into his pocket to pull out his tablet, where he pulls out a map of a suburb of a neighborhood somewhere just outside of Prague.
And marked in red is an old L.I.M.B clinc that he is hoping that hasn't been looted. "It is a days drive out from where the portal is located. As for heavy items..." Vaclav lowers his head with a bit of a sigh. "Now that there is a problem, but the four of us should be able to manage."
"But the heavy things, there's going to be heavy things, and I think we can get a truck. But we're going to need to watch out for checkpoints. The police and the rest of the people in my world want to ship someone like me to live in a slum." He lifts his metal hand that holds a cup of coffee into the air to show off his augmented arm.
"Hence the underground neuroplastic surgeon part. Not only will we be dealing with police, but private security and drones." He sighs and he looks at the three. "I wonder if any of you are good at by passing security systems."
no subject
"When you're my size, people tend not to pay attention." Rocket is going to be taking Vaclav's plate of food, and he will make sure none of it is going to waste as he hops up on the table.
And with his gaze shifting over to Miles with a mouthful of egg. "What you look like you saw a ghost, kid." Rocket is still Rocket even if he has never come across this kid to save his life, or a good chunk of people who might share his universe. The life of living amongst the stars is a nice one.
"Cops smops and drones. I ain't never met a cop and or drone that I couldn't take on with one hand tied behind my back. You just let those drones try to get a piece of me, and I'll send them packing. As for security systems..." There's a rise of his lip, and he flashes his teeth at Vaclav and the rest of the party at the table. "There ain't no door in the galaxy that can keep me in or out of it. Therefore, this ought to be a cake walk. Well so long as you kids don't get yourselves killed."
Someone is going to under estimate Miles and Candela.
no subject
Her gaze is on the tablet now, and a confused look crosses over her face, since Prague is nowhere near or similar to the Kanto region. Looks like someone else will need to be in charge of direction, especially if the trip takes a day.
"The challenge lies in getting there and fighting against anyone who stands in our way then. Maybe there's a way to create a portal from the lab back to the Nexus. Or maybe we can Teleport back...". Her eyes widen in surprise, as if some sort of switch has flipped in the back of her brain. "I think I have an idea on how to move the equipment fast and safely."
Rocket's comment only gets a smirk from Candela, as if she's getting confident over the situation. "Heh. I think you're underestimating the leader of Team Valor. Do I need to show you my strength, Rocket?"
no subject
He won't be able to use any of the 'spidery' powers or his webshooters, but he'll have some of the not so obvious ones at his disposal. Super strength, spider-sense, and the venom sting. Maybe even camouflage in the right circumstance. That seems like it would be helpful for what they're trying to do ...
"I never thought I'd meet you up close." Miles glances over at Rocket. "The earth I came from had you fighting against Spider-man only a week or so ago and I was in the crowd. Or maybe it was another you. This alternate reality stuff makes it hard to keep track."
Miles glances over at Candela. He might have gently nudged her with his leg under the table and is now giving her a look that seems to say 'don't poke the bear.' Except in this case, it's more like 'don't provoke the Racoon'.

With a bowl of bananas and some beans on toast, The Doctor comes to the table and he does his best 'grown up' voice. "Now look at you lot trying to get yourself in to trouble! You..." He then sits himself down, and he leans forward. "...Sound as if you all can use a bit more help. And I might be able and willing to lend a hand, at least for when it comes to the teleportation part."
The Doctor has been lurking in the Nexus in order to avoid the his fate. The Time Lord puts his plate on the table, and he looks at the tablet. "Prague is a city in Eastern Europe on Earth located inside of the Czech Republic." He proceeds to pick up the tablet and he looks at the map of where it is they're going, and with his free hand going to pick up a piece of toast some of the beans begin to dribble on to the table cloth.
"Oh, name's The Doctor."
Jacking the order because I realize Miles never said his name. Herp Derp.
Miles' has a friend on earth, well, his earth who would be freaking out right about now at the group surrounding this table. A real life poke-trainer, a scientist from a dystopian future, Rocket Racoon and now, The Doctor.
"You know, I'm beginning to nothing is impossible around here. I'm Miles."
And the young teen, in trying to be helpful goes around the table to literally point out the rest of the group. "That's Candela, Vaclav, and Rocket."
no subject
But first thing's first is one important question. "What's a L.I.M.B clinic?" Rocket asks with a mouthful of food. "And what'up, Doc and Miles?" He sprays a little bit of chewed up egg across the table. He doesn't have the best of table manners, but then again he is a raccoon.
The little Groot who is hanging out on Rocket's shoulders waves a twig of a hand to Miles and The Doctor. And in a little voice. "I am Groot!"
Totally cool with the breaking of order. :p
He looks up to The Doctor and Miles. "Nice meeting you both, and the more brains I suppose the better!" He then goes to answer Rocket's question about what a L.I.M.B clinic is or was.
"A L.I.M.B clinic is a mechanical augmentation clinic for people like me, or people who sought to become augmented." Vaclav holds up his mechanical arms for everyone to get a good look at. "But due to some problems, augmented isn't exactly popular anymore. Very unpopular in that augmented humans are treated as second class citizens due to the choices we made."
There is a little bit of anger coming from the sound of his voice. "But there's people like my friend over there..." Vaclav looks over to where Adam can be seen through the crowds. "Who are trying to set things right. But people don't seem to up to change."
"But if you can teleport us, Doctor, I'd be more than willing to help give you coordinates. But are there coordinates to give?"
no subject
The topic about augmentations almost goes over her head, but it sounds similar to a specific incident she's heard about back home, but that's not important to the conversation right now. This is about helping Vaclav, not spending time talking about her world.
"These augmentations aren't weapons, right? People use them as a replacement for lost limbs and such?" She just wants to make sure that this whole plan isn't secretly helping the bad guys, even though Candela doesn't believe that the be the case.
The 10th Doctor is now in her sights, and she's trying desperately to ignore the fact that there's food dripping on the table
why must you be like Spark so much Doctor, but if he's offering help, she won't refuse. "I'll leave the teleportation work to you, Doctor. If anything, I'm better at providing the muscle and power anyways."no subject
The Doctor can't help the beans are falling off his piece of toast and on to the table. It is just the sad nature of bread with anything wet. But he is enjoying the free food, and he is never one to turn down nibbles. He likes nibbles.
But as he looks down at the tablet, he listens to everyone around him as he thinks of how to formulate a plan. Then again visiting an alien universe is filled with many unknowns, and that includes everything. "I have a great big teleporting truck, though I was able to get here in it, I just need to see how it works in conjunction with a portal." He speaks proudly of the TARDIS that is sitting outside on a corner near the cafe.
"Though we might want to discuss things there while I figure out how to get us there."
no subject
As far as he knows.
"I don't suppose you've got schematics for this place? Maybe there's a secret entrance or a tunnel system that could bypass a lot of the things that go blam?"
no subject
He then looks back to Miles as he swallows his food. "Good point, kid. Or we can always go blastin' through the front door."
"But still, any sc'matics for us to use? Or are we gonna go in blastin'?"
no subject
He looks to The Doctor and then to Miles as he goes to look for his plate that was taken over by Rocket. He sighs. "I don't have them, no, but I think we shouldn't have any problem with getting some schematics once we get there."
"And maybe some of us should stay back." Koller suggests. "I'm not a hacker or a fighter, and someone will need to give you direction." Vaclav looks between those who are with him, and he gets to his feet. "But Doctor man is right, we should meet somewhere else. If we're going to do this meet me tomorrow at a warehouse in the industrial zone."
