1st Annual Halloween Block Party!

Perhaps it's the leaves of fiery golds and oranges drifting on the breeze, or the sight of various hard squash being mangled into festive ornaments, or even still the bowls of candy left out simply everywhere in the Nexus that signifies the import of today. Regardless of when you take heed, Halloween has come to the Nexus.

Neat little handmade signs and fliers of all kinds lead to a particularly festive sectioned off block with the Crossroads Cafe at the center. The brick building has more than its fair share of decorations hung from every available windowsill and door. Hanging skeletons, jolly Jack-O-Lanterns, orange and black streamers cascading down and blowing to and fro in the crisp breeze.

The doors are propped open just waiting to beckon you inside. What are you waiting for?

It's fair to say that Han only gets a vague grasp of Harrow's description; it stops and restarts and is frankly a little too booze soaked for him to really take it all in. Besides? Warding off spirits? The dead affecting the world of the living. Sounds like superstitious mumbo jumbo.

"I ain't the biggest fan of sweets anyway, but I'll take that life advice under consideration."

It isn't as if Han doesn't have his own share of bedroom misfires, although usually, it's a tale that ends with him passing out a little to early or an unfortunate case of whiskey dick.

"Got your eye on anyone tonight, Harrow? Or are you just going to let your magnetic personality draw them in naturally?"

Harrow waves away Han's flattery about his personality and he's back to shaking his head. "Nah, man, nah. Not tonight."

He hesitates a moment, smiling distantly at some thought, mulling over whether or not he wants to say it out loud. Soon enough he decides that yes, he does, because being half a bottle of bourbon in at the start of the night means you say just about everything that comes to mind.

"I mean... There's a lady I got my eye on, but I dunno... Costume parties ain't really her thing... And I don't think I'm really her thing either. Bein' undead's kinda a, whaddya call it? 'Niche interest.'" He cuffs Han lightly on the shoulder and with a little laugh says, "Don't ever take bein' a normal human for granted, man."

Speaking of that bottle of bourbon, Han will draw another sip from it. He's not really hung out with Harrow much outside of movie nights, but it's not because he trying to the avoid the guy. He makes him laugh, helps him stay inebriated and has been a consistently a good host. What else can you ask for?

"Yeah." He says with a slight laugh; an 'oh you' kind of ha. Then he blinks and you can practically see the gears turning in Han's mind by the look on his face. "Wait a minute ... are you? I mean you're not really undead, right?"

It's gotta be some strange turn of phrase where he come from. That must be it.

Harrow stares at Han with an open-mouthed smile like he's waiting to hear the punchline of a joke.

But.

Oh.

"Oh, you're serious!" He starts to laugh at that ridiculous notion and can't help himself from cuffing Han playfully on the shoulder. "Sure, man," he says, forcing back his smile. "How could I be undead? When ya die, ya die, right? Just a Hallow's End joke, huh? World'a the dead comin' close to ours and all..."

"Have you known me not to be serious?"

He's got the suspicion that Harrow is patronizing him now. Han may be naive to the ways of magic, but being put down is old hat for him. It's just ... so damn hard for him to wrap his head around a guy coming back to life. There ain't none of that where he's from - and if there is, screw everybody he loved that died on him and then didn't come back to visit.

Till he sees the guy acting really undeadish, he remains skeptical.
