1st Annual Halloween Block Party!

Perhaps it's the leaves of fiery golds and oranges drifting on the breeze, or the sight of various hard squash being mangled into festive ornaments, or even still the bowls of candy left out simply everywhere in the Nexus that signifies the import of today. Regardless of when you take heed, Halloween has come to the Nexus.
Neat little handmade signs and fliers of all kinds lead to a particularly festive sectioned off block with the Crossroads Cafe at the center. The brick building has more than its fair share of decorations hung from every available windowsill and door. Hanging skeletons, jolly Jack-O-Lanterns, orange and black streamers cascading down and blowing to and fro in the crisp breeze.
The doors are propped open just waiting to beckon you inside. What are you waiting for?
((See the OOC post if you have any questions! Backtagging and threadhopping are fine. Come on in and have a blast :D ))

"At ease." He murmurs, not quite sure to make of the pumpkin-headed robot. It seems like it could be one. He knows what armor looks like when he's seeing it, though. Whatever this ... lady is, she's meant for combat.
"You can have a seat, I suppose, but I'm gonna tell you right now ... you can't have this for your next head."
no subject
"I figured that was going to be yours. Besides, it's not exactly our style. Fine work, though. You've carved a few of these before?"

The pitfalls of missions in deep space means there's not a lot of opportunity for gourd carving. Even on days where it's a recognized tradition. Although, he finds himself idly wondering what kind of results he'd get if he tried to program the replicator to serve him a pumpkin.
"Was born with steady and nimble hands and my work keeps giving me cause to use them."

It's what comes to kind, okay. Although on second thought maybe it's a bit of a long shot. There's an inordinate number of civilians in the Nexus.

"No, it only feels like things are going to go off around me at any given moment." He says with a bit of a smirk. "I'm a doctor and a surgeon."
no subject
"So, uh. What's the costume, exactly?" She doesn't get it, but she doesn't recognize most of them here. The people of the Nexus tend to draw on different stories - and wear their masks for somewhat different reasons, at that.

Right or wrong, it's his way. There aren't many people with the gumption to try to get in his face and tell him he should change.
"Came in my uniform." He says with a half-hearted shrug. "Was worried I might get here late if I spent too much time fretting over an outfit."
no subject
"I don't like hanging about either, but you can't go this night without a mask at least. I've got a whole bunch of spares, I can give you one."
no subject
He glances over at the guardian. He doesn't ... see Blaze holding masks. Doesn't see a bag or other kind of carrying device that could be used to hold masks upon her person. Does she have some kind of tech that allows her to keep them stashed somewhere? Because if so, sign him up for some of that.
It seems quite useful.
"What kind of masks do you have? Anything good?"
no subject
Blaze sets them out around her feet, showing the doctor each in turn as she explains in enthusiastic tones. "A lot of 'em are based off our fallen monsters, of course - dark gods, warlords- but these two are just spooky people. And this one should only frighten the evil."
no subject
That they seem more relevant to Blaze's and not him isn't really a surprise. She doesn't look like anything that comes from his reality, so why should anything that's culturally relevant to him be represented in her masks?
He points at the Skolas one, though. Something about it catches his interest. Probably the fact that he thinks he can hide from Jim in it. "They're tangible, right? Not something your little friend projects?"
no subject
I think there's a skull somewhere...
" Ghost is trying to be helpful, drifting in to peer between the doctor and the masks from under his knitted unicorn hat."Shh, Ghost. He's made a good choice." By way of answer to Bones's question, she picks the mask up and tosses it to him lightly. It's light, nothing but paper and glue, and the Titan handles it with care. "Alien monster pirate it is. Death won't find you tonight."
no subject
If Bones can grab a larger shirt or some kind of robe to pull on over his uniform - he might just get people to leave him alone. This ... whatever it is will obscure and distract from his face quite well.
There is the cursory put the mask on to make sure it fits and will reasonably stay put. And ... man is it a trip to see Skolas' face on top of Starfleet science officer's uniform.
"Is there somewhere I can stash it when I'm done so that you'll get it back?"
no subject
"
Hmmm. I wonder if they come in my size...
