1st Annual Halloween Block Party!

Perhaps it's the leaves of fiery golds and oranges drifting on the breeze, or the sight of various hard squash being mangled into festive ornaments, or even still the bowls of candy left out simply everywhere in the Nexus that signifies the import of today. Regardless of when you take heed, Halloween has come to the Nexus.

Neat little handmade signs and fliers of all kinds lead to a particularly festive sectioned off block with the Crossroads Cafe at the center. The brick building has more than its fair share of decorations hung from every available windowsill and door. Hanging skeletons, jolly Jack-O-Lanterns, orange and black streamers cascading down and blowing to and fro in the crisp breeze.

The doors are propped open just waiting to beckon you inside. What are you waiting for?

((See the OOC post if you have any questions! Backtagging and threadhopping are fine. Come on in and have a blast :D ))

"Sup."

The little girl is dressed head to toe in a grey mercenary outfit with a dirty orange plastic jack o'lantern hanging off one wrist.

Which she raises up to Hughes with an expectant look.

"Trick or treat. Is that candy? I want candy. I want it I want it Iwantitohgodimgonnadiiiieee please? Please?"

Her mercenary costume is adorable, but even more than that? It's her excitement that gets him. She reminds him a lot of his own daughter and how excited she gets about, well, pretty much anything she really wants.

"Ahh, yes it is!" He takes a few pieces of wrapped chocolate and caramels from the bag and turns back to the girl. Grinning, he holds back on placing the candy in her plastic pumpkin until she answers his question: "And who are you dressed as tonight?"

"Only the most bad-assest badass who ever walked the deserts of Pandora, Roland. Gotta represent, you know what I'm sayin'?"

Tina gestures down to her outfit and looks back up at Hughes with a proud smile on her face. She cares about him a lot, that much is for certain.

"Definitely." He nods enthusiastically. "Can't let someone that great go without proper representation and you look great."

He smiles brightly and drops the candy into her jack o'lantern for her. ...and then, because he thinks she's adorable, he grabs a couple extra pieces and gives them to her.

"I don't think your friend could've asked for anyone better to represent him tonight," he says with a smile. "Do him proud, little one."

"He's....he was...real important to me."

Tina's jubilation dies down then, and she takes a moment to suck in a deep breath before she puts her smile back in place.

"Thanks for the candy, yo." She's trying, but there isn't as much light in her voice this time.

In a habit of affection, Hughes pats the girl lightly on the head and offers her a soft smile. "You're welcome," he says in a gentle tone, getting down on her level again. "If you need any more later, you let me know, okay? I might have a little stash set aside I'd be willing to share with the right mercenary."

He knows losing a friend can be hard, which is why he won't press. Instead he'll distract her, try and bring her out of her shell, get her to be upbeat again if he can. She's still a little girl and he doesn't think she should feel as down as she does right now.

Too many people lose their friends and family in times of turmoil. Pandora may not be at war, but it could also be argued that it never leaves a state of war, either. It's chaotic, dangerous, and Tina grins a bit cheekily again when he promises her more candy.

"I'll see who else i can hit up but you're legit. Are you single? Bunnelby Sexbang happens to be a very connected bachelorette back in my world and you would be just her type."

Yes. That is a stuffed rabbit. And Yes, that is her name.

"Uhh..."

Despite having an easy out for this one, the question - and who the question is asked on behalf of - catches Hughes completely off guard. She really just asked him to date a stuffed... bunny...

Well, that's a first. He chuckles a little nervously as his brain reminds him of the truth of the matter.

"Sorry, but I'm afraid I'm taken. Got a wife and daughter waiting at home to see what kind of candy I bring back for them."

"Dayum son! Oh well, can't blame a girl for trying knowwhatimsayin'? Who am I kidding, of course you do. I just gotta look out for my boo too ya dig? Bunnelby has had a few suitors but really has some self worth issues to work out because they have not been anywhere near good enough for her."

She takes back out one of the larger candy bars from her bucket and carefully puts it into Hughes' bucket.

"That's for your little girl, yo. From Tina."

Tina is a surprisingly fast talker and the strange lingo almost trips him up. He gets the gist of it though. Mostly. Probably.

He takes the candy bar with a smile, adding it to the bag he set aside to bring home. "Thanks Tina - I'm sure she'll love it."
