1st Annual Halloween Block Party!

Perhaps it's the leaves of fiery golds and oranges drifting on the breeze, or the sight of various hard squash being mangled into festive ornaments, or even still the bowls of candy left out simply everywhere in the Nexus that signifies the import of today. Regardless of when you take heed, Halloween has come to the Nexus.

Neat little handmade signs and fliers of all kinds lead to a particularly festive sectioned off block with the Crossroads Cafe at the center. The brick building has more than its fair share of decorations hung from every available windowsill and door. Hanging skeletons, jolly Jack-O-Lanterns, orange and black streamers cascading down and blowing to and fro in the crisp breeze.

The doors are propped open just waiting to beckon you inside. What are you waiting for?

((See the OOC post if you have any questions! Backtagging and threadhopping are fine. Come on in and have a blast :D ))

A cobalt-eyed kid comes wandering through the party. With the seemingly endless cycle of training and running missions with phoenix squadron, he hasn't been to a celebration like this in a couple of years. It's nice to see a big group of people out like this enjoying themselves, even if he has no idea what the reason behind it is.

So he spends a lot of time walking around looking at costumes and wondering 'why is someone dressed like that' over and over to himself, until he's stumbled upon a party goer with instruments dangling from her hip that look familiar. Very familiar.

He closes the distance between them, unwrapping a piece of chocolate as he approaches.

"Most of these people aren't from where we're from." He offers his observation to the other saber wielder. "I wasn't sure at first, but after walking around for a while, it seemed kinda obvious."

Indeed, Dia's lightsabers hang very obviously on her belt, and frankly, they're the one constant regardless of how she's dressed or what she's doing. Such a habit comes from being trained in a culture based on healthy paranoia and the utter need to survive political backstabbing, and promotion-through-killing-rivals.

(As long as you weren't too obvious about it anyway)

"A vast majority of them aren't," Dia explained, cutting Ezra a glance and noting the Lightsaber at his hip. Her accent is almost certainly some flavor of Imperial, as well. "At least in my experience. And this holiday certainly isn't something specific to home either."

"You're also a new face, at least as far as I'm concerned."

Can't blame her for that. Ezra hasn't even had possession of a lightsaber for that many years and he feels pretty strongly about keeping his close by when he can. A little less attached to his than Dia is to her's, maybe. He's not supposed to feel too strongly attached to anything: to his things, to his friends. It's not the Jedi way.

"Yeah, this Halloween thing is pretty weird, but on the other hand ... I like that it seems more fun than Empire day."

The accent is noted. Without her regular clothes, it's not as if Dia's appearance screams out 'sith warrior', but he gets the feeling he knows which side she's on. "I'm Ezra." His introduction is almost cautious.

At the same time, forming attachments, even to inanimate objects such as weapons that keep you safe, or the individuals you meet, is a natural inclination of all sentient beings. Dia's had hers for a number of years now, and surprisingly, they're still her first set. Or perhaps amazingly. Since sometimes, a Force user can lose or have the lightsaber destroyed with occasionally worrisome ease.

Distinct Imperial accent or no, Dia's not out to arrest nor attack Ezra, as she's not seeking enemies here, and despite how most Sith in her era and the eras beyond behave, she has no particular inclination to really hate Jedi.

Roll her eyes at some of the things she's heard about them, sure, but thus far the Jedi Order has left her largely alone, while she's been more harassed by other Sith than anything else, in the form of her former Master's new (and possibly insane) apprentice, or some lunatic out to bring in the famous 'Sith Exile' as she's been frequently called.

Also, she would point out that she's not a warrior.

She is an assassin. Still, she's got the pale skin and the yellow eyes, and although they match her costume, the plastisteel bracers that come with her mechanical hands are black. "Dia'ndria Starfall," she replies, and her eyes cut to his saber again, more obviously this time--so that he'll understand her meaning "And before anyone can make any assumptions, I am no threat to you and yours."

"...And Empire Day? I'm guessing your Empire isn't the same one I'm unfortunately bloody familiar with." Dark or Light, the universe isn't full of absolutes. Such is the case here: She may be a Sith, but she currently sides with no political body or Order.

Trained Sith person he would not want to get in a fight with, then. He doesn't really know much about the way the dark side trains people - so what to call Dia exactly, he doesn't know. Ezra also doesn't know much about the way the light side trains people.

He simply knows the way Kanan trains him and he can't even claim to be an expert in that because he only sometimes understands his Master's methods.

"That makes you different than most of the other people I've met like you, no offense." He folds his arms across his chest thoughtfully. This woman could teach him something about the force that he doesn't know - she doesn't seem old, but she's experienced in a way that he isn't. She also seem less sinister than Maul.

"Yeah, Empire Day. The day Chancellor Palpatine brought his 'peace and security' to the galaxy." The young man's glibness suggests that he does not believe that he's done either of those things.

To be fair, what to call herself is something that she's had issue with before, she's settled on 'Exiled Sith' for now, as she's certainly never going to be a Jedi--her passions run to high and too close the surface for her to ever have that calm serenity, even if she's read and adapted some of their teachings to use herself.

"All things considered that doesn't surprise me." Other Sith aren't as nice as she happens to be, to be utterly honest, and she's more than aware of that fact. Dia shifts her weight to one leg as Ezra explains.

And her eyebrows furrow, "Hm. That definitely isn't my Empire. I don't recognize that Chancellor's name at all. It's entirely possible we're from similar, though different realities." She shrugs. "But there's no Republic where you are, in the eternal bloody stalemate with the Empire?"

"Not anymore." He says with a shake of his head. "Not in my lifetime."

He was born on the day Palpatine had dissolved the senate for good, but it had taken a while for him to truly have the control he seems to have now - to smash the pockets of resistance till they had seemingly disappeared.
