1st Annual Halloween Block Party!

Perhaps it's the leaves of fiery golds and oranges drifting on the breeze, or the sight of various hard squash being mangled into festive ornaments, or even still the bowls of candy left out simply everywhere in the Nexus that signifies the import of today. Regardless of when you take heed, Halloween has come to the Nexus.
Neat little handmade signs and fliers of all kinds lead to a particularly festive sectioned off block with the Crossroads Cafe at the center. The brick building has more than its fair share of decorations hung from every available windowsill and door. Hanging skeletons, jolly Jack-O-Lanterns, orange and black streamers cascading down and blowing to and fro in the crisp breeze.
The doors are propped open just waiting to beckon you inside. What are you waiting for?
((See the OOC post if you have any questions! Backtagging and threadhopping are fine. Come on in and have a blast :D ))

Bones has a gift. He's not afraid to tell anyone about it. Even before he was in med school, he spent a lot of time drawing in sketchbooks; which he credits to sharpening his hand-eye coordination. Leonard didn't draw cartoons, but things that could be found in real life. Landscapes. Animals. Plants.
Science seemed to call to him even at a young age.
"Straight up, please, and thank you."

The admission and following chuckle comes a bit muffled as Katsuya disappears behind the bar. While he may not be an expert on alcohols even he can manage to read a label. It helps that Ice Bear keeps everything meticulously sorted. It won't take him but a moment to locate the bottle and to produce a hefty glass to pour it into.
Said glass is set back down on the counter.
"I have to take stock in what I am good at, and that is not giving up until the job is done. Though medicine has never been something I've studied much of. Aside from mandatory first aid at the police academy."

He picks up the glass and holds it in his hands for a moment, just staring into the amber. As if it would give him the answers to questions he couldn't even think to ask. The truth is Bone's doesn't drink all that much, but he likes to savor it when he does.
It also makes him kind of a light-weight.
"The scientific element is obvious and it requires a lot of study." Not just getting through the school, but remaining current with your knowledge afterward. "But there's an art in it too. A delicacy that people outside of it wouldn't really understand."
He takes a long, slow pull from the glass. The liquor warms the back of his throat pleasantly.
"You're in law enforcement?"

There's nothing delicate about the sorts of things he's seen in the line of duty. But Katsuya understands a bit of what this man speaks of. He's seen miracles at work. Seen the delicate fabric of reality become rewritten and lives saved. It's not what this medical man is speaking of, most certainly, but such experiences do help him relate.
"...I find decorating pastries much more pleasant than my day job and obligation extra curricular activities. Hence, the cafe."
He gestures around them.

Bones raises the glass to Katsuya and bows his head slightly in thanks. Somewhere beneath the more caustic aspects of Bones' personality are the manners of a Southern Gentleman. It's funny when and where it shows up sometimes.
"I thank you for your kindness."
