1st Annual Halloween Block Party!

Perhaps it's the leaves of fiery golds and oranges drifting on the breeze, or the sight of various hard squash being mangled into festive ornaments, or even still the bowls of candy left out simply everywhere in the Nexus that signifies the import of today. Regardless of when you take heed, Halloween has come to the Nexus.
Neat little handmade signs and fliers of all kinds lead to a particularly festive sectioned off block with the Crossroads Cafe at the center. The brick building has more than its fair share of decorations hung from every available windowsill and door. Hanging skeletons, jolly Jack-O-Lanterns, orange and black streamers cascading down and blowing to and fro in the crisp breeze.
The doors are propped open just waiting to beckon you inside. What are you waiting for?
((See the OOC post if you have any questions! Backtagging and threadhopping are fine. Come on in and have a blast :D ))

Natasha quirks her eyebrow with the comment and grins around the sip of beer she takes form the bottle she has in hand.
"What about you?"

"Me? I'm always cutting loose, even when I'm buried under paperwork at my desk." Which is to say he's constantly finding reasons to get up and bother Roy instead of doing his own damn work (and sometimes it's even for work that he gets up). He turns back to Nat with a wry smile. "Having fun is part of my routine - if I wasn't working at it all the time, life would be a lot less interesting."
He's brushing the question off a little bit, but he does always try to have a good time. With his world trying to go to Hell in a hand basket, he holds a little tighter to the fun, happy moments in life these days.

She can play along with teasing. In fact, she quite enjoys a good words sparring. Most people are too intimidated by her to really play along though. As well they should be. Natasha Romanov is not a woman to be crossed.
"Knowing how to be happy is sometimes all we have." Natasha knows better than most, what Hughes means between the lines.

That's the thing about being in the military and dealing in secrets - only those who live the same way you do ever fully understand. "It's better than nothing, right?" He gives her a small, wry smile. "Sure as hell beats paperwork."

Natasha has people for that. Well, one person, specifically. He's paid well for his services and speaking of which, Natasha really should check in on him sometime. Let him know she's not dead.
"Care for a drink or are you behaving tonight?"
no subject
The offer of a drink is given a moment of thought before he nods. "I'd like that. Going to be here for a while, so I think I can handle one now. What have they got around here?"

It's the Nexus, does Hughes really have to ask? The wine and beer selection is top notch thanks to Ice Bear's stocking of the place but Natasha goes for the bar proper and orders up a White Russian. She swirls the drink around in her glass when it arrives and offers it out to Hughes.
"Care to try? I'll order a second for me if you like it."
no subject
"Interesting," he muses before taking another sip. It's definitely not the sort of thing he would order for himself, but now that it's in his hand and he's given it a fair chance, he's decided he likes it. "You should order another - I think I'm gonna hand on to this one."
Did you like what I did there?
Natasha smirks and offers the intelligence officer a wink before she orders herself another of the same drink and leans against the bar while she waits for it.
"I know my vodka drinks. Next drink you should order us something from your world."
You know I did =P
If so, he's going to have to dig up something extra special to share. Whiskey on the rocks certainly isn't going to cut it after a drink with vodka, cream, and coffee liquer in it.
So puntastic
Stressing both syllables of the word 'open' there. She's certainly not going to argue with it. Not that she'd ever indulge enough to actually get drunk. Her job doesn't allow for that kind of negligence.
"I'm asking you to show me something from your world."

He grins broadly. It's a terrible joke and crosses all kinds of lines, which is why he thinks it's so hilarious. It's ridiculously obvious that he's a dad when he gets like this.
"I'm gonna need a minute to come up with something that's not whiskey while we enjoy this White Russian." Someday, he's going to be sad he missed the opportunity with that one.
He takes a long sip of his drink and then asks, "How fruity are you willing to go with your drinks?"
