+1 Italian polymath
It's usually a safe bet that finding yourself in the Nexus unexpectedly is a jarring experience. That's certainly how Leonardo's finding it, although his response isn't entirely negative.
If anything, it's quite the opposite; he's only made it as far as the Plaza, but he's already completely enthralled with the place. He has no idea how he's gotten here, or why the door to his workshop has led him to this new, strange place, but he's happy to worry about how to get home later. With a notebook held open in his right hand and his left scribbling barely legible notes, he wanders and watches and takes in everything around him, excitedly muttering things to himself every now and then.
When someone wanders by talking on a phone, he openly stops and stares after them, wide eyed in wonderment as he asks a question that he's not expecting anyone to actually answer.
"Come affascinante...un dispositivo do registrazione, forse..?" Shaking his head in disbelief, he can't keep the wide smile of anticipation off of his face. "Che concetto fantastico!"
*How fascinating...a recording device, perhaps? - What a fantastic concept!

"I'll call you back." She pulls the phone away from her ear, swiping her thumb across the screen to end the call. Natasha walks back over to him and holds out her phone.
"Un trasmettitore voce. Stavo parlando in tempo reale con il mio compagno." Her Italian isn't her best, but she does a better job with it than Barton does, and that's all that matters.
"Hai appena arriva?" A pause, and then Natasha clears her throat. "Do you speak English?"

Giving her a wide, friendly smile, he nods, quill poised to jot down more notes. "Si, parlo inglese - please, how does it work? If you have time to tell me, of course."

Natasha has been down this road before and this guy looks to be from a much older time than Rogers came from. She holds the phone so he can see the various buttons on the bottom and sides of her Starkphone.
"The real machinery is inside, but we'd break it if we opened this case...." Natasha looks thoughtful and then jerks her head toward the shops up the street toward downtown. "Come on, We can get a burner phone and I'll let you take that apart."

The idea of taking something apart to see how it works is very appealing to him, and while he'd never want to do it to someone's personal possession, he's more than happy to follow her lead and get a 'burner phone'. Whatever that meant.
With a slightly sheepish smile, he glances from her phone to her as he talks. "It is almost like you read my mind, signorina; my first thought was how I might take it apart and see how it worked - it really does look like a fascinating device." And then, after seconds pause, "Oh! My apologies, I've been terribly rude. I have not introduced myself!"
Transferring his notebook to his left hand, he holds out his right for her to shake. "My name is Leonardo Da Vinci, it's a pleasure to meet you."

It wounds like this is going to be a long explanation. Natasha hums thoughtfully while they walk, pausing when he introduces himself and--Sorry give her a second. Leonardo Da Vinci. Okay.
Wow.
This is happening right now. She shakes his hand politely.
"Natasha Romanov. It's a pleasure, Mister Da Vinci. And...electricity is a type of energy. Lightning, for example. Is current ellectricity."
