On the Subject of the Green Skinned Space Family
Let's be honest. Delia's not that unusual of a sight in the Nexus these days. Hell, she's not even that strange or unique, what with people of all sorts of varying unique appearances, skintones, and so on.
A green skinned woman in a simple sundress and sandals doesn't really stand out that much, even with the fact that she's got an eyepatch.
Next to her is her usual heavy leather bag, and in her hands is a datapad about the size of your average tablet, with her tapping the screen on occasion as she pages through whatever she's reading.
Then she sighs, "So here's a question that's not related to anything at the moment--how important is family to you? Does anyone buck the trend in yours?"
Frown, then she thoughtfully adds, "Do you get along with them at all?"

"Not necessarily. I half expect fairly general responses from people." Delia shrugged and leaned back in her seat. The way she haphazardly held the datapad in one hand pretty much showed she didn't really care if anyone tried to look.
Although that said, the lettering wasn't in any English or Basic script that Jyn would likely recognize. "As for how to define it? Simple: It's how you define it that matters to you. Family is family. Whether it's by blood or by experiences tying you together and forming those strong bonds with."
"As to what I'm doing with the information? Curiosity, honestly. Most of you probably aren't from my reality anyway, so most of this info won't really be all that relevant. I mostly just want to compare notes, really."

The second he starts talking, however, makes it clear he's still the same old Shark regardless of his body's situation. "Family doesn't mean dick. Having one at all sounds like a huge hassle. People you have to pretend to care about just because you've got the same genes? Bogus.
"And just cuz I've got identical DNA to all my coworkers doesn't mean dick either. That's kind of part of being clones of the same person. And bucking the trend there means going off-model, which is a great way to get yourself slated for recycled." He reaches to tug at his tie, perhaps realizing he's saying this while presently being 'off-model'. Uncomfortable.

"Family can be hella important to survival, mya." Neko stretches from where she's been laying atop a nearby wall, soaking in the sunbeams of this lovely late summer day. "Me and my sisters always banded together back in our world. It was either that or risk being eaten, nya."
Though her tails curl in interest as she hops down form her perch.
"I guess you could say I'm the one who bucks the trend. Choosing to work and survive in the human world instead of with the rest of them."

"Given the nature of this place, I have a feeling I'm going to meet a lot of people who buck the usual trend in their families." Delia shrugged, but continued, "Do you get along with your sisters, or do they look down on you for you, ahem, choice in career?"
no subject
"I'll admit, on some level I actually agree with you there." Ungh. She's agreeing with this tiny green Ferengi. Shoot her now. "Just because you're related doesn't mean you're obligated, regardless of how well you might know each other."
And right. Clones. "But what about those who go 'off-model' in a way that's more efficient? Or smarter? Or more devious?"

I was afraid when I found out who my father was...but I never stopped fighting to save him. I knew he still had good in him.

Very important. SOmeone'd told me that a few decades ago, I'd have laughed like crazy, but now, they're my whole world.
Just don't ask about my father-in-law...he's gone now, but when he was alive, it was extremely nasty. As in, he tortured my wife and I both...although we weren't family when he was alive.

GoT Spoilers : Will go softly in case you haven't started or caught up yet.
"The only member of my family that I still respect is my brother, Jaime. My sister was evil, I didn't know my mother, my father saw me as nothing more as the devil who killed my mother, and from what I know one of my cousins was a religious zealot."
He turns himself around to look at Delia, and he bows his head to her. "If it weren't for my sister, I'd be proud to call myself a Lannister. Though fighting for my family name, well I'm currently waging war with my sister."

"Odds are low they're gonna do that in a way that's not already in the personality template they got. Especially since the longer you live, the more quirks and unique traits you're gonna accumulate. Which are bad and you have to go in to get the template reapplied. And physical evolution? That guy goes RIGHT into the recycling bin. Like, instantly."
Shark holds up one finger as he continues. "And as far as devious goes, sometimes certain sectors try to cut corners and make new workforces pulling DNA from existing clones rather than using the CEO's samples directly. Which we call re-clones, and we're discouraged from doing because they have a tendency to degrade, get the shakes or go full postal and start killing everyone. So if anything, just goes to show you shouldn't try and fix what ain't broke."

But then she overhears Delia's question, and decides to wait a little longer.
"Family is very important to me," she answers, looking over the green-skinned woman politely. "I guess... maybe me, technically? I was the first person in my family to take a job on a spaceship, let alone another colony."
Her gaze drops when Delia asks her follow-up question. "Yes. Yes, I did. We were very close."
no subject
"But it's good you're still close, I suppose."
Meh, I don't watch Game of Thrones, don't care about spoilers on the off-chance i do. HIT ME BROSIS
"I'm fortunate that none of mine fight that terribly, even if things are continually.... complicated. And I wish you luck in settling things, and hope you can settle things without too much bloodshed."
Oh, Delia, you have no idea.

Admittedly, she's curious, and you can't blame her for being so: Constantly creating copies runs greater and greater risk of failure, after all.

She hadn't wanted to assume anything about this green-skinned woman with the eyepatch, but it's easy to accept the idea that she's an alien. She's about to ask about her own adventures in space, but her comment on family clams her up.
"Were. We were close," she says finally, after a hard swallow. "I lost my family in a war almost three years ago."
For others then. :)
"And it wouldn't be so much of a problem, if my sister was a pleasant person. In fact, my sister is a horrible person finds pleasure in tormenting those who cross her. What I wouldn't have done for a family that had very little bloodshed." He looks listful, and he takes a deep breath. "I'm not sure why I was the sane one of my family. Sure, I've had to make hard choices regarding the lives of others before."

With a parting flick of her eyes towards the datapad, she breaks the quiet with:
"How would you answer the questions you've asked? If I was the one holding the datapad, asking random strangers what you'd asked before. How would you answer?"

Mrs. Olive Skinned Beauty makes a pretty good point. Someone's ears are perking right up with the statement. She never gave a whole lot of thought to what the humies who clog up the joint are like, aside from her own personal friends.
her head tilts from side to side as she considers the question.
"Mmm, I don't see them too much since I made the change. They didn't give me a hard time about it though nya. They can't do it, so in a lot of ways I'm the most qualified for the job. Most of our kind would rather eat a human than work with 'em."

For her part though, Delia has the decency to at least wince, "I'm sorry for your loss, dear. I am, truly. War is never, ever pretty."

technically,"not royalty, but there's six siblings, my mother, and the complexities of getting along with her and her desire to continue the family business. Which is to say, with her still in control of things, despite whatever she might say or do in the public eye."Cue a roll of her good eye.
"And you just don't hold back in regards to your sister, do you?" But the truth's the truth, "Sometimes you just have to be the sane one because you're drafted to do it. Simply for the fact that you must be, or it'll devolve into something worse and uglier."
no subject
"Well, among my family, there's the six siblings, including myself, and my mother. As to how important they are to me? Depends on the day. My Mother sometimes simultaneously both loved and hated." Delia shrugs a shoulder, "As for which of us stands out? We all went our own paths with one exception who's still living with her. We don't really have a trend, except most of us are pirates of some flavor. One Artist, another scientist, and the Restaurant owner."
"One of my sisters serves as my ship's doctor, and I get along at least civilly with the most of the rest of them except our Mother, whom I've had a number of... cross words with more often than I care to admit."

A faint hope appears in her eyes and she asks, "Does that mean that it's peaceful now, where you are?"

Neko gives a shrug of her shoulders as if it's not that big of a deal and tosses her dark hair back before leaning against the wall she'd been lounging atop of earlier.
"Unless it was a fishman." Excuse her daydream inducing drool, it only lasts a moment. "But yeah. Demons eat people the same way people eat cow. Just a fact of life." Their butchers shops leave something to be desired though. In that there aren't any and demons tend to be raw food advocates who eat with their hands.

Jim shrugs, completely unfazed by her species. There are a few different peoples she might belong to, but it isn't any of his business unless she wants it to be. "I guess that'd depend on whether you're talking family as in blood relations or family as in, you know, the people who give a shit about you. Either way, I'm pretty sure I'm the odd one out in mine, or I used to be."

"Right now, my sister sits on the Iron Throne, and she rules all of Westeros." He scrunches his face, and he ahs. "The place where I have come from that is. And I'm not exactly the one who will be sitting on that awful chair in the end, and I'm doing my best to make sure someone who is interested in the well being of the people ends up replacing her."
Tyrion knows his sister won't go peacefully, and that it is a matter of waiting to take King's Landing with as little civilian causalities as possible.
