Harley is sitting cross-legged on a random Nexus couch today. She has found a pamphlet from the Pokémart and is looking through some of the Pokémon that could be adopted and trained.
She seems in a good mood today. Twirling her hair, as she reads the pamphlet. And there is a huge bag of caramel popcorn at her side.
"If you could have any kind of pet, what kind of animal or creature would you have?"
"What do you think qualifies as being a suitable pet owner?"

There's a tall gentleman who happens upon Harley while she's browsing the pamphlet, and maybe to her surprise, he's being followed by a giant land turtle . Judging by his neat attire of a pressed suit and tie, along with a long white lab-coat, he looks to be a doctor of sorts. Even his slightly English accent gives off the aura of a serious-natured man.
"Those who possess a strong and caring heart are the kind of people I would entrust with caring for another creature." He nods, lightly patting the Torterra's back with one hand. The Pokemon sniffs at the bag of popcorn, but immediately recognizes that it isn't food.

"I have seen many of these... Pokémon in the Nexus. So I am learning about them. What kind if yours?"
no subject
"This is Torterra, a grass and ground type Pokemon." He nods, gesturing to the pamphlet she's holding. "Yes, the Nexus wilds and cities are increasing in Pokemon population lately, hence why I've come here. To study the effects the Nexus has on different Pokemon, both by habitat and people."
He pauses and offers her a hand for a shake. "Professor Madrone, at your service."
no subject
"Grass and ground type." Harley repeats softly to herself. "You have a lovely terraform on your shell, there Torterra."
"Harley Quinn!" She shakes his offered hand. "Pleased to meet'cha!"
no subject
"A pleasure as well, Ms. Quinn." He smiles back at her politely. "I'm impressed at the speed that news travels regarding pokemon caretaking. I will admit, finding new people to assist with my research has been strangely difficult."
no subject
"How long have you been searching for people to help you?"
no subject
He frowns at that thought, given how he expected more the Nexus to be open to new things. His disappointment fades as he watches Harley pet Torterra, whom has closed his eyes and is murmuring in his sleep.
"May I ask, Ms. Quinn, what would you do if you adopted a pet? What kind of things would you make that pet do?"

Post- not regeneration, just cause
"Ah Pokémon. I once flooded an entire entry level of a building with them. Pretty easy when they're digital and you're a scary handsome genius from space."
He sits down next to her with a grin showing he's quite pleased with himself.

She then nudges him playfully. "Pretty good idea, scary handsome genius."

He smirks softly. She reminds him so much of Susan sometimes. Rose and Bill other times... He sighs.
"Well, it was served as quite the distraction. I was in a head office. Just needed access to a computer."

Honestly, he thought he had been over this. Maybe not.

"Hi, Harley." He sits down on the other side of the bag of popcorn. Not too close to crowd, but not rudely distant, either. He's trying. "I'm partial to cats, personally. I know Adia would love a pokémon, but it's not feasible on Atlantis." As for what makes a good pet owner, he shrugs. "If you have the time and motivation to care for it, that's usually enough."
no subject
"I could see you as a Cat Man. But not like Cat-Woman." A private little smile.
"I used to have two Hyenas, back in the day."
no subject
There's a brief look of surprise on his face, before he huffs out a dry laugh. Hyenas, sure, why not? He almost suggests that Harley get herself another pair, but he remembers that she lives in an apartment, one he has seen remotely thanks to her video of her and Adia in the aerial silks. "Guess you don't have the space for them anymore," he mutters, tugging at his tie. Did it get a little warmer around here? Dammit, think of something else. His gaze lands on the pamphlet she's reading and he points to it. "Why don't you get a pokémon that's like a hyena? I'm sure there's at least one."
no subject
"You think so? That would be neat."
no subject
He shrugs. "Sure, why not? There's a pokémon that looks like a set of keys, I don't see why there wouldn't be a hyena-like one, too." He's not as well-versed in pokémon as girlfriend, but he has picked up on a few things, whether from listening to Adia or simply by being around them often enough. "Does your pamphlet list anything like that?"
no subject
"I don't think they could list all 800 in such a small pamphlet. But maybe there is some sort of digital inventory around..."

He steals a piece of caramel corn and tosses it into his mouth.
"What's a suitable pet owner? Not me, that's for damn sure." He starts ticking off on his fingers. "Ain't got the time, the space, the money ..."
no subject
She starts to share the caramel corn with Majima.

"Ya lookin' at gettin' a new furry friend, Harley-chan? Maybe a couple'a wolverines this time?"
no subject
"I am skilled at taming wild beasts." She pats his knee.
no subject
"But f'real though, what're you askin' for?" he reaches down and tries to snatch her pamphlet.
no subject
She playfully keeps the pamphlet away from him for a moment. Then lets him have it, but only have getting close enough to sneak a quick tickle at his ribs.
"I don't know yet. Something that says, Harley."
