Time for a big ol' Nexus Block party

On a sleepy summer morning a wonderful smell begins to waft throughout the Nexus. For those familiar with this place there can only be one explanation but for those new faces to the nexus this may be a strange thing: seeing so many people flocking toward the sweet and savory scents perfuming the Nexus.

There are a few tables set out this morning in the Plaza in front of a small cafe loaded with several carafes of coffee, a myriad of pastries from more than a few different worlds and cultures, and a large pan of eggs and sausage kept warm over a chafing dish. On either end of the table are disposable plates, cups, and cutlery as well as a few welcome pamphlets in a small container. Along the front of the tables is a hand made banner.

Meet and Greet

Manning the tables is Katsuya Suou, red apron on and a cup of coffee in hand. He looks far too cheerful for how early in the morning it is. It's always satisfying to put one of these on and see the throngs of different people stuck in line together to get their food and find a place to sit among the tables and couches nearby.

"Right then, is anyone hungry? I've got more than enough here for everyone so please mingle among yourselves or feel free to ask me anything you'd like."

Iphigenia waves at him, grinning.

"Oh, hello! I'm fine right now, but thank you. How have you been?"

She hopes he's adjusted well.

"Oh, sorry," she replies, sounding sheepish. "I suppose I am."

"All of that sounds simply wonderful," Penelope admits. She even laughs a little! See, she's getting used to the Nexus, slowly but surely.

"I think I will try a pancake or two, and this 'chocolate' you mentioned." She's never been incredibly adventurous with food, but she figures this is as good of a time to start as any.

"You told him to ask the Nexus for help?" she says to Caspar in surprise.

"Suggested it," Caspar replies, averting his gaze as if embarrassed. "There are plenty of magic-users around here, surely someone has heard of this problem before."

Adia smiles softly at the Cylon before adding, "I, um, I've read up on some magic. I can look through my notes, see if there's anything that applies."

The piglet comes out from under the table completely. "Tep!" she says cheerfully, wagging her springy tail.

"That's Princess," Caspar says, not bothering to hide the smile on his face. "She's a Tepig, a kind of pokémon. I'm training her on behalf of Professor Madrone. Figured I'd bring her to the Plaza since I'll be working with her later."

"Professor Madrone might want you to do some research for him, if you're interested." Adia sympathizes with Ice Bear -- it is a lot of work caring for pokémon, and he has enough on his plate. But she doesn't want Panda to be discouraged, either.

Caspar looks down at Princess. "That okay with you?" Princess nods amiably and the Cylon takes a small step back. "All right," he says to Panda. "Mind her nose, though. It runs a little hot sometimes."

The Exo blinks at his sudden shift in body language. Humans mix up their words easily enough but there's something so terribly familiar about his worry, the need to excuse himself. She wonders - but she can't put words to what she'd ask, and when she looks up at Ghost there's a tiny little shake of his shell. Not now.

He's probably right. Her gaze drops before she looks up at Alec again. "Heh. Don't worry about it. I can't even keep my own head straight yet."

Blaze thinks for a minute, wondering what she could possibly ask of him. She enjoys greenery, but, well. She's a machine. Has been in every life but her first. The power she serves may have seeded entire worlds, but she and the plant kingdom are strangers to each other. There's really only one thing she's sure she wants.

"Celebrate with me, then," she says, looking up at him. Share in my joy. "That's all I'd ask."

"Me too." He can see that look on Hunter's face though, and waves a hand as if to chase it away. "Don't worry, I'm not in it for revenge or anything. I just..." He sighs, not really sure what he's really after, what he hopes to accomplish. "I guess I just want to talk to them."

Ah, handshakes. Blaze is willing enough to offer her hand, though her grip is careful and might carry some static charge. The inner side of her gauntlet is flexible and a little warm.

"Blaze-37. The little guy is my Ghost. It's good to meet you, Harley." She'd definitely remember this girl, even if she didn't always recall faces.

He considers this before a necklace of flowers pops out of his neck. They open and bloom. Why not it's a party right?

After a moment he extends his hand and grows a second necklace of flowers, "Making flower necklaces is a skill." He shrugs, "the kids are into flower crowns as well. Lots of different cultures use them. Primarily hawaiian in origin. I can't do...exotic flowers here without a bit more time."

What do plants and machines talk about.

"This is some kind of party."

"So Japan's got a wizard minister, too?"

Majima gives Hermione some serious side-eye. "The more ya tell me 'bout this wizard shit, the more I think yer just pullin' my leg. There's no fuckin' way... Supreme Mugwump?"

Bigby doesn't quite shrug, but he does take a mouthful from the platter. "Up to you. I'll take either."

Her question makes him pause, because demons...? He gets the feeling she probably doesn't mean that hyperbolically. "The Black Forest, originally. More recently, Fabletown. New York." He can't exactly offer a hand, and he's not going to shake a paw, but he nods once. "Name's Bigby Wolf."

"If you want. Thanks." Hands are definitely useful, he's gotta admit. Maybe the only thing his human form is more useful at.

Bigby's heard enough unresolved missing persons cases that even though this isn't the outcome she wanted, he still sees it as something of a success. "You found him. That's what's important."

Big yellow eyes narrow at that aborted movement, too familiar with people making digs about his nature, but she doesn't smell like she intended to make fun of him. A little chagrined, maybe. "Bigby Wolf."

"I can ask around," Bigby offers. "Next time I'm on the Thirteenth Floor. If I find one, I'll point her your way."

Of the red, he's called it. It brings to mind thoughts of hot blood on his tongue and in his teeth, staining his muzzle. Sounds about right. "Yep. Don't get to let my fur down much these days though. Mundies and all."

There are a number of beings here who are unusual, but apart from Jacob Stone (and Hazel but the less said of her the better) it would be nice to see some more green beings...

the lack of them is a bad thing. These red monsters...

Alec ignores it, "the humans? Here? They've been more understanding then humans in my world."

Bigby grunts, the name sounding sort of familiar. "One of four, right? None of his siblings made it out?" Tragic, but not rare, if so. Bigby can't think of a single Fable who didn't lose someone to the Adversary, one way or another.

"Humans, sure, not the ones here though. There's enough crazy shit going on here that Fables are barely a bump in the road." Bigby shakes his big shaggy head. "Nah, it's the ones back home that're the problem. They don't know we exist, and it's Fabletown law to keep it that way. Anyone who can't pass for human has to go to the Farm, upstate."

"They certainly do. This winter, I will be taking a tour of the Mahoutokoro, the Asian wizarding school which is based in Japan. Along with the other 10 major wizarding schools."

"The Mahoutokoro has the smallest student body of all great wizarding schools. Day students are flown back and forth to their homes every day on the backs of a flock of giant storm petals."

Hermione smiles a little teasingly. "Who would you ask to verify the truth?"

"What are some of your favorite books to read?" Hermione focuses on a shared common love of reading.

"Very nice to meet your acquaintance Bigby Wolf." She smiles brightly again.

Harley is also keeping her grip careful. And is a little surprised by the slight static charge. It reminds her of a joy buzzer.

One of Harley's most recognizable features is her bubbly personality.

"Did you guys need anything from the buffet?"

Well, he wasn't expecting that. He barks a laugh at her description. "I can see why there ain't many students. If I told my family I was gonna ship off to wizard school, they'd shit a brick. 'Son, ya gotta be a doctor or a lawyer or a company man.'"

To be completely fair, growing up to join the yakuza isn't exactly a better option.

"Made it out of what?" Aslan asks, a little curious. Is there danger he is not aware of? Something to be warned about?

"Yes, but that situation would only apply for a Muggleborn wizard, and then chances would be that the Majoutokoro would not extend an invitation to you to join their ranks."
