Time for a big ol' Nexus Block party

On a sleepy summer morning a wonderful smell begins to waft throughout the Nexus. For those familiar with this place there can only be one explanation but for those new faces to the nexus this may be a strange thing: seeing so many people flocking toward the sweet and savory scents perfuming the Nexus.

There are a few tables set out this morning in the Plaza in front of a small cafe loaded with several carafes of coffee, a myriad of pastries from more than a few different worlds and cultures, and a large pan of eggs and sausage kept warm over a chafing dish. On either end of the table are disposable plates, cups, and cutlery as well as a few welcome pamphlets in a small container. Along the front of the tables is a hand made banner.

Meet and Greet

Manning the tables is Katsuya Suou, red apron on and a cup of coffee in hand. He looks far too cheerful for how early in the morning it is. It's always satisfying to put one of these on and see the throngs of different people stuck in line together to get their food and find a place to sit among the tables and couches nearby.

"Right then, is anyone hungry? I've got more than enough here for everyone so please mingle among yourselves or feel free to ask me anything you'd like."

Cricket has had some time to acclimate now, and he looks a lot less forlorn. That, and he's slowly transitioning to more modern clothing, with a pair of cheap sneakers on, and a hoodie overtop of his 1930s-style trousers and shirt. He's got coffee with a lot of sugar in it, and he's hitting the pastries pretty hard.

There is nothing dainty about him, but he's in good spirits and he wanders shyly over to see her as soon as he spies her. "Ma'am," he greets with a smile. "You want me to get you some coffee or tea or anything?"

Iphigenia waves at him, grinning.

"Oh, hello! I'm fine right now, but thank you. How have you been?"

She hopes he's adjusted well.

He beams, happy to be welcomed to visit with her, and makes so bold as to take a seat across from her. "I'm good, thank you. Real good. I ended up not stayin' at the inn you took me to, but they let me do some sweeping up for a little pay."

Hence the new clothes, probably. "Do you know Miss Harley? Harley Quinn? She invited me to stay with her."

He is settling in. He's hardly even homesick. This place has everything.

"You doing well, Miss Iphigenia?"

"Yes, I've met her! She has colorful hair and is very kind," she replies. "That's very sweet of her to house you. Of course, I wouldn't expect anything less."

She dabs at her mouth with her napkin--a stray crumb made it to the corner of her lips.

"I've been well. Thank you."

"Yeah, I never saw any gal with hair that color before," he muses. "And her place ain't like any I've been in before, either. She's so nice, though."

"I think I'm gonna work a while and save up and maybe set up a garage or a workshop." He rests his chin in his hand. "Ain't found no way to send a message home yet, but I kinda like it here."

"I'm glad you like it here--I do as well," she replies, smiling. "I do miss home from time to time, but I feel a lot safer and happier here, overall."

"That's good to hear. I'm gonna miss the people I knew, but there're good people here, too."

He blinks at her thoughtfully. "What was it like, where you come from? I been talking to everyone and everything from pulp heroes to aliens. I figured you're a regular human, but maybe I shouldn't assume things."
