How to get to Sesame Street?

Lucifer had a promise to keep and it was a labor of some strange love. Perhaps, it was his love of children and connection to the child-like or just his desire to do the unexpected. Who knew what moved the devil to his more bizarre behaviors.

Whatever the reason, one afternoon an over-sized Lucifer, 70 foot tall, starts rolling a 150 foot diameter chocolate chip cookie into the plaza like a wheel. The cookie wrapped in tin foil on the bottom and blue cellophane on the top. It takes a deft hands to lay the 50,000 pound cookie down without breaking it. The effort of baking it with his hellfire all the previous day and moving the gigantic mass has left even the devil tired.

His illusions shrunk down to his usual six and a half foot tall height once the labor of moving the enormous cookie was done. A huge sword is strapped across his back in the eventual need to slice this cookie in some effective manner. Sighing, he walks out into the center of the cookie about to unwrap it when he looks to the person at the edge of the cookie and calls out to them.

“Have you seen the gluttonous, blue monster that lives here?” He stands up to look at whomever has stopped. “I am in dire need of speaking with him.”

Leave it to the angel of sin to make a cookie so large it breaks the Guinness Book, not that this institution exists in the Nexus.

"Yeah, it just felt surreal for me too after so long of not being able to have what I really wanted. That being Ziggy and being his boyfriend. I suppose most of it was down to my nerves and the fact being with him might cause bad things to happen. Two blokes dating---we'd get bottles and insults thrown at us."

It was a whole mix of Mick's emotions and social norms. The fact that where they both came from was a time of social unrest and things were not easy for two men to show their love for one another. Even someone like Ziggy, who was a hybrid, let alone the fact he was an alien. Nodding to Lucifer, Mick sighed softly.

"I'm afraid of losing Ziggy due to old age but Aletayria is hoping to heal Tom of his heart problem and also extend his life hopefully. If it works then I really hope to try it too---just so I can be with Ziggy that much longer."

Even if it were a few days, Mick was happy to stay with his alien until he was in slippers and old and grey. Love knew no bounds.

"What sort of things have you shown them?"

"You are in good company." Lucifer smiles, broad and devious as a school boy. "My partner is an angel still in the service of God and I have endured the equivalent of thugs throwing bottles. Doing what is right for the world and your heart is never an easy path but it is always the right one."

In his own creation he had seen times like Mick spoke of where there was a danger to love. He is glad that his own creation may slowly be moving past it but it is a good reminder that other places are still on that journey.

"It is a difficulty of immortality. The heart does not limit who it falls in love with to other immortals." Lucifer had tried that and if he was honest, most other immortals clashed with him. "I have sat at the bedside of many who passed from this world but if he stays, then always remember that he thinks your presence here with him is worth anything he might endure after old age runs its course."

Lucifer didn't speak to the idea of extending human life. That has had mostly negative effects in the past, but this is the Nexus and it is aliens, not gods, working on it.

"Some, everything." Lucifer can feel his own sadness welling up. Eve was always there in the back of his mind and no one softened that loss. "Every human is different. I show them what will be most beautiful to them." Lucifer sighs and smiles wistfully. "One was a musician like yourself. I let him hear the sound of creation and it inspired his music."

"An angel? Oh right. Yeah, we're breaking down the boundaries block by block. It will take time but Ziggy and the band, we're doing our best to say fuck off to the righteous bastards who are narrow-minded beyond belief."

This is how Mick saw it anyway. Thugs, morons and idiot interviewers. The bane of the rock star world and Ziggy's world. The whole thing about dying though? That was a hard pill to swallow when your partner was an immortal alien. Mick had chosen that path and now didn't want to veer off it now that he had Ziggy so close to his heart. Where he had wanted him at the very start.

"You do? It sounds wonderful, mate. To be able to show them such things as that. What was this musician bloke like?"

The blond now rapt with attention whilst nibbling on a piece of cookie.

"It is a slow process but there are benefits and they will come." Lucifer knew social change was difficult, even among angels there were difficulties. "People will see that your way is not as offensive as they once thought. If angels ingrained in their ways for billions of years can change, humans will find their way as well, with time."

Lucifer has hope for change and for humanity. It doesn't mean it will be easy or without heartache along the way.

"The musician I allowed to hear the sound of creation is one you are likely familiar with already. Ludwig van Beethoven." There's affection in the tone of the angel's voice. He, or at the time she, had loved the man dearly for his rebellious, adventurous and rather surly ways.

Mick nodded, understand Lucifer's words about it being a slow process. Hopefully, societal change would happen in the guitarist's life, if not, then at least Ziggy would reap the benefits of it. The angels living for billions of years still blew Mick's mind and he was still learning his way around the Nexus.

"You met Beethoven? Bloody hell, mate! That's amazing. Really. To meet a real life composer like that---just fantastic. What was he like?"

Because now Mick was interested in how the meeting went with Beethoven and Lucifer. It was hard to comprehend from a mortal's perspective but he was trying at least. Just to hear that music up close first hand....it was almost magical.

"He taught me to play several instruments." Lucifer speaks with open fondness when speaking of Beethoven. He loved the composer dearly. "Wild, manic, demanding, rude, romantic, creative, passionate. The man was like the music he wrote; too much and too loud for the people around him but he was a man of great beauty and spirit."

Lucifer had a fondness for many humans over time. Some, like the composer, he truly loved and would never forget. "I have befriended many artists and musicians in the millennia since the beginning of your kind."

"He did? That's brilliant, mate. To meet Beethoven like that---it must have blown your mind. Well, it would mine but....yeah."

Mick just couldn't comprehend what it would be like to meet a real life classical composer like that. One of the greats too. A once in a lifetime experience for sure. Just the rush of emotion anyone would feel by stepping in the room to meet the man himself. Then there was his music.

"Before I became a rock star I worked with an orchestra group. I can play the Harmonium and was classically trained as a boy at music school. Guitar is my real love so I sort of went into the glam rock scene when I could."

It was Mick's dream to become a famous rock star and musician and meeting Ziggy offered him that break.

"I am ancient but art still moves me as if it is something new. What is thought of him now was not his reception in his own time. Unfortunately, this is true of many artists."

And Lucifer missed the musician. He missed many humans who had died through the long space of time since they were created.

"I do not play the harmonium but I have played the guitar for many years. I am fond of the music played on it, though I have never lost my love of classical music."

"Ancient, eh? How old are we talking, mate? Ziggy is 90 and you wouldn't believe it by looking at him since he looks around mid twenties like me."

The whole Anthean age thing blew Mick's mind once Ziggy told him how old he and Jack were. The guitarist could hardly believe it but it had sunk in now slowly. It seemed the devil played the guitar and this was a very good thing indeed. Anyone who could play guitar immediately gained respect from Mick because guitar was his love.

"I like classical too but rock and guitar is my love. Without my baby I'm not sure where I'd be."

"I was created before the universe existed." Lucifer raised his shoulders in a barely there shrug. "Time did not exist then but if human estimations of time are correct, perhaps 16 billions years."

Lucifer appreciates music, and the arts, for the very reason the human mentions. "Music has saved many from uncertainty. I have a fondness for rock. After all, it is the 'devil's music'."

"Before the universe existed? Bloody hell! That's mind blowing."

Mick just couldn't comprehend anything before the big bang. Was it all just black emptiness and gas? From what he knew the universe was infinite and massive. So much humans didn't know. Having an alien girlfriend help open the guitarist's mind up so much more.

"16 billion? I can't even imagine that, mate. You don't look bad for such an age. I'd peg you for around mid thirties."

Was Mick subtly flirting with the Devil? Perhaps. In his own cute, platonic way.

"I am the first light, the Morningstar." Lucifer comments. "In the beginning God said let there be light and light came into the darkness to make day and night. I was that light."

Lucifer disliked the bible but in this situation it wasn't a bad way to get a human to understand the situation.

"Unfortunately, I have to hide most of my beauty from you. It would be a shame to blind you with it." Lucifer picks up on it and finds no issue with a playful flirt. He did it with Ziggy too.

"Oh I remember that from school learning religious studies. We had to learn the Bible and I remember that part. Is it to do with Genesis? I always get that part confused with when Noah had his arc full of animals. I loved reading about them."

Mick liked animals in general and even though he wasn't a religious man he enjoyed reading about Noah and his impressive arc of animals when it rained for 40 days and 40 nights. They must have all got bloody soaked though.

"Hide it, eh? What's wrong? Think flashing yourself naked will make me blind?"

That got a small giggle out of the blond who knew he was being a bit silly. Why not? This was the Devil after all.

"I know this is a bit odd but you sort of look like Ziggy and Tom. People might have told you this already."

"I was there during the Flood but it was not the whole world as the Bible claims." Lucifer, as usual and probably expected, was not impressed with the Bible.

"I would hate to melt your eyes out of your skull. Ziggy would be angry and never make out with me again." Lucifer grinned and winked at Mick. "I have. It was an ex of mine that introduced me to Ziggy for that reason. Perhaps, I should apologize for kissing your girlfriend in the dressing room when I met him?"

"It must have been bloody soaking for you to be there, mate. I always did wonder how the whole world flooded back then. Most of it is made up I bet but not sure about the animals."

Mick shrugged. He didn't really care but it was more he was made to read the Bible at school just like everyone else. Music was his real passion and probably the only class he'd really paid attention in.

"I'd rather not have my eyes melted. Bloody hell---you kissed Ziggy? Oh. Well, he's a likeable girl and he's friendly like that."

The guitarist wasn't sure what to say or how to act since this wasn't just some bloke. This was the Devil. It would be wise not to start a jealousy war with such a powerful creature, so instead, Mick just offered a sheepish smile and ducked his eyes down a little.

Lucifer shook his wings and the feathers. He didn't need to be on the ground. "When man did not travel as much, what man considered the whole world was only a small part of the actual world."

"I know the angel that created the animals on Earth." Lucifer tells the human then wonders if it is a good idea to have Rota among Rockstars.

"Your partner is very beautiful and rebellious. He is my kind of person." Lucifer hadn't been serious about anything with Ziggy, more that it was just some drunken kissing.

"You do? It was an angel that created the animals on the Earth? Bloody hell! That's pretty amazing. I always thought it was that Genesis thing or something went bang and lots of light and there were animals suddenly. At least that's what the Bible says to you."

Mick scratched the back of his head. He wasn't sure about the whole creation thing since he dropped off in a lot of his religious classes. Music was more his thing.

"Ziggy? He's so wonderful, mate. I could talk for days about how sexy, lovely and everything he is to me. An alien too. Your kind of person? I suppose he touches everyone's hearts, even the Devil's. In a good way though. Sort of caring, like."

"The writing of Genesis compressed many eons into a time that could be perceived by humans." Lucifer smiled because he knew it was an attempt at understanding, that compression. "I am the light at the beginning of Genesis. Rota and the other angels responsible for the animals of Earth came several billion years later."

"I assure you that I have been known to do the same about my own partner." Lucifer shrugs with a definitely not innocent look., "Rebellious and androgynous, though I must admit he is a good kisser too."

"No bloody clue about it all, mate. The whole Genesis thing went right over my head."

Mick shrugged and didn't really care for all the deep religious stuff anyway since he was an open-minded man even if he could come across as ignorant. That was more down to his simple upbringing and the fact he was a working class lad from another time. Playing guitar was all he knew and loved.

"Who is your partner if you don't mind me asking?"

He swallowed down some more cookie then frowned when he mentioned about Ziggy and kissing him. Oh. This must have been before the train. Before Mick entered the Nexus himself. Clearly. The blond just averted his green gaze for a moment or two not knowing what to think but feeling a pang of jealousy rise up.

"You kissed him? Uh----yeah he is a good kisser. The rebellious part is what makes him such a beautiful and unique person."

"I would not be surprised to learn that was the intention when the Bible was written."

Lucifer shrugged it off too because he isn't particularly interested in thinking about, nor being part of, a religion.

"I have two; an angel and a human." Ziggy and Lucifer had some things in common and that hadn't passed the angel's notice on any occasion where they had met. However, he can see the jealousy and smiles gently. Lucifer is many things and has done many things, but breaking up a happy romance is not something he wishes to do... except Adam.. he didn't deserve Eve, that was different.

"Do not worry. It was but once, experimental when we first met. We spent the night sitting together talking about the nature of humanity." Lucifer nodded in agreement. "It is that beauty that lead me to seek him out and several other reasons, but mostly his internal beauty. You are a blessed man to have such a lady at your side."

"No idea, mate. Like I say I don't have a bloody clue what those blokes wrote 2,000 years ago in the desert."

Mick shrugged, not really caring about it either since all he cared about was music. That was his religion. Listening once more he nodded, smiling at the fact the angel had two partners too. Nothing wrong with that since Ziggy had multiple partners too some platonic like Minoru and others more a casual acquaintance. Mick didn't like talking about that though since he was naturally a jealous man.

"I love him with everything I have. Ziggy is special to me in a way that no other girlfriend could be."

He often thought about spending his whole life with the Anthean but didn't want to think about him getting old and leaving Ziggy behind. That part stung the most.

"I understand." Lucifer smiled at Mick and nodded. "I may be an eternal being but my heart is more like that of a man than that of my siblings. I adore both of my partners, and will until the end of time if they see fit to keep me that long."

The last bit was spoken with humor rather than a seriousness. An admission of his own annoyance at times but the he had now adored those things that others found undesirable.
