bit late for the xmas party but nevermind
Ah. This is...
[ Karna stepped into the battlefield to find out that the entire thing has been replaced by the Plaza. He looked around, by all means looking as bored as ever, although there is a hint of being bothered underneath his nonchalant expression. He sighed, lowering his lance but keeping it by his side. ]
...an inconvenience. [ After all, he had been ordered to fight the Lancer of Black, and, although this entire thing is beyond his control and not to be concerned about (he had a legendary bad luck, after all), it is still inconvenient. He turned to the nearest person, his tone polite and aloof, but at the same time there is the vaguest hint of a threat. ]
Where is the way out?
[ To all passersby: there is now a young man dressed in an elaborate-looking armour with an equally matching lance and red cape, and he's kind of...fairly underdressed for this season. For those of you magically inclined, he's also exuding magical energy...very much so. Thankfully, he's not under one of those mistletoes yet, so he's still free to move. He had a somewhat bored expression, his fine features regal and distant. You might be the lucky person who either both spotted him entering the Plaza and being asked, or merely the latter. Either way, the Heroic Spirit is talking to you. ]

She gives him a warm smile. "Ah, " she looks about scanning the area. "Ya mean the plazza or are you in need of a gateway?" She asks gently to clarify. She was semi new herself but she liked to be of help if she could.
no subject
A way out. [ He tried to make it clearer. How to words. ] Mm, I mean...a gate. I wasn't here before.
[ THANK YOU CAPTAIN OBVIOUS. At least she looked patient enough to deal with him. ]
no subject
She then nods, "Ah..I see.." She states and scans the area for the vending machine with those devices. "what's the last thing you remember?" She asks gently and warm as she gently waves him forward as she searches and walks a few paces in the direction she'd last seen them.

[ With Vlad's spikes and his fires...Karna still could remember it vividly. It wasn't that long ago. He was certain of it. How did he get here, or, more importantly, where did this place come from? There are pamphlets around and he could understand them, but he doesn't care. Perhaps later. ]
...that's not very helpful, isn't it?
no subject
"Well.. it's a start.. people end up here after various things or reasons... we tend to get a far few warriors of various eras at present. " She informs him, calmly. "But it's ah semi sort of sanctuary but fights.. can happen on occasion...there not very small scale when they do. " She states and looks disapproving.
She was a healer firstly, and true she would and have fought for causes and people before but she loathed. Large amounts of collateral damage or cruelty and unnecessary violence. When there were better and other ways to settle things.

I was trying to. Wound him, I mean. [ His tone is more than a little harsh now, but it wasn't directed at her. ] But he had the land on his side...
[ A distant look crossed Karna's face for a moment before he snapped back into focus. ] I need to get back. The injuries he caused to me are of no concern.
[ He's merely stating the truth. He has no concern about injuries or winning the war or getting the Grail, he's just following orders. ]
People end up here? What is this place? [ Fights where Karna came from are pretty much epic scale battles, but he didn't say anything about it. He noticed her disapproving look, too, but that can't be helped. ]

She raised an eyebrow, right..did he mean that literally she half wondered or just that he'd used the terrain to his advantage?
She half hummed and gave him a half uncertain, wry, half sympathetic look. "Well, if something starts hurting or you see spots do let me know..travel of certain kinds can make such things worse." She states firmly, calmly and advising. She be remiss if she didn't warn him of such. Combatant or no.
"err well that's kinda technically complicated." She replies still looking for the vending machines they should be round here somewhere. "It's sort of a crossroads between, realms or spheres of existence." She tries to explain. "A waystation of sorts..most come through doors though..but it's not unusual to not remember and to come through other ways." she reassures him.

Karna means literally. The land of Romania is responding to its past ruler's callings. He raised an eyebrow again at what she said next, expression unchanging as he simply stated: ]
Our bodies are much stronger than human beings as Heroic Spirits, and so does our endurance. Besides, [ he added, casually ] I am the son of the Sun God, Surya. What the Black Lancer did was barely my concern. In fact, it was beneath it. [ A small pause. ] But I thank you for your generosity. Your name was...?
[ Another pause as Karna processed this. ] Mm, so what you're saying is that this is...a leyline between the worlds. Is that what you mean? And that we don't remember...our stay here. Much like our incarnations when a Mage summons us for a Holy Grail War.

She blinks a few times, "ah I see." She murmurs softly a Demi, she'd met a few in her course of travels. Though the name didn't ring any bells. She softly clears hr thought. "your most welcome." She replies automatically. Well..so long as he didn't show signs of an infection or something.. She had her first aid kit in her bag ready to hand. She'd hate for something to happen merely because someone didn't at least clean an area etc because of it being, 'just a scratch.'
She hoped the black lancer was the sort to put... nasty things on his weapons.. She eyed the other knight out the corner of her eye. But put on a friendly smile. "Oh, ahem, pardon. I'am Ashlynn Aalish SinClair, Lady of Oakridge." She informs him warmly deciding to go by the semi-formal, form. Since he seemed the type to more appreciative it. Besides she didn't know him overly so at the moment. Plus she thought it best to be cautious at the moment. Till she knew more about his mission and the like.
She blinks, well it's been a while since she heard someone use that term, she smiles softly. "Aye, exactly." She replies with a small Irish/Welsh sounding mixed lit and a nod as she brightened. "ah.. well some don't..I met a few folks who don't remember how they got here..others can vividly...It could be due to how shocking to the system it is." She theorizes half tries to explain.
One of her friends, for example, got amenisa after a battle. while still in the nexus.

It was nice to meet you, Lady. [ He said, bowing slightly after a pause. Even if he wasn't nobility back when he was still alive--wasn't raised as one since his own mother ditched him shortly after Karna was born--and generally not well-disposed of of manners, this time Karna simply tried to be nice. Especially since Ashlynn obviously tried to help him out, even if it doesn't seem to be her duty. He appreciated that, even if it doesn't really show. ] I am Lancer, true name Karna. As I said, I am the son of the Sun God. I appreciate your help.
[ Karna merely blinks at that. ]
It is not that shocking to me. As Servants, we were summoned from the Throne of Heroes for the time being for a certain Holy Grail War, and when we are defeated, we are sent back to the Throne. When we are summoned again, we do not have the memory of our previous incarnations, if any. [ ... ] But I do not remember how I get here, yes. I must have crossed a gate during the battle.

She smiles slightly and returns the gesture with a polite nod and curtsey, "likewise Sir Karna, tis my pleasure." She replies sincerely. Besides what sort of Healer let alone human/good citizen would she be if she didn't' at least try her utmost.
She blinks as well, and then looks thoughtful her eyes soften a little. "hmm, I see..that seems..repetitive doesn't it?..I mean ..how do you learn or know what didn't work the last time?' She asks gently. And kinda lonely too, did he have any friends she wondered..or if he did.. did they forget him as well? Or was he just a ghost of a memory, a story, a legend..

[ Actually, Karna isn't quite sure about it. He's fairly good at mana generation, on his own, although not exceptional since he is neither a Caster nor a Ruler, but he was quite certain that his own wouldn't last that long, considering how costly he is as a Heroic Spirit to maintain, golden armour and partially divine status included. That's why his endurance isn't that good.
If he disappears, he thought, while he was in this place....well, that was a thought he'd already resigned to. If he doesn't, then Karna would accept that too. That would truly mean that this place is a unique place, a truly unique one that allows a Heroic Spirit, a Servant, to exist independently without a Master.
He raised an eyebrow at the title. ] Just Karna. I am no knight, although I am a Hero.
[ That was an interesting question. He looked truly engaged for once, his brilliant gaze piercing hers. ]
We don't. Or it is instinctive. Besides, our opponents and the War changes. Either way, it is not my concern. My only concern is to obtain the Holy Grail for my Master. [ A brief pause. ] And for my faction to win, since this time, the Grail summons seven more additional Servants. I have been summoned by the Red faction. I will bring them victory, no matter the cost.
[ He is indeed the ghost of a memory, a story, and a legend. That is the cost of being a Heroic Spirit, of being a Saint people prayed to, and of being half-divine. It is a rather sad fate, but Karna wasn't really concerned about it. He wanted to do what he couldn't do in his life, and as the Hero of Charity, it is impossible for him to refuse anyone their wish. ]

She hums and looks thoughtful, rubbing her chin with her left hand. "Does it ur have a certain look or feeling?" She asks, true the nexus teamed with energy but it might be best to get something as close to possible to what he's used to.
She blinks, "oh, pardon..ya seem the type who would be." She softly states and apologizes. "Karna." She adds with a friendly smile and tone.
She listens sincerely, her eyes soft. Even so.. she felt sympathy, she had an easy empathic nature with folks. Sherlock often thought she needed thicker skin sometimes. She did her best to be cautious but a half-life was hardly one worth living in the long run. In her option, after all, no one was an island or at least it wasn't a healthy lifestyle to try to be. "so..tis a quest as well?" She half asks, she wondered which sort of Grail this was. Most we're powerful objects or one sort or another. "or a very important sort of..capture the flag?" She half states half asks. War games and military maneuvers seemed to have a semi universal-ness to them for the most part.
"The Great Libary might have more information.." She half suggests half informs him as she scans the horizon for the taller landmark. It also had vending machines and other helpful things. Plus it was warm.

[ It's a...little eerie how easily he accepted his own demise, declared it almost casually, as if it wasn't a big deal at all. And, to Karna, it wasn't. Anyway, since she's trying to be friendly, he gave her a smile and a curt nod back in return.
He tilted his head a little at what she said next, shouldering his spear. ] A little bit of both. But also neither. You see, Lady...the Holy Grail War holds a certain importance to the Masters who waged it. And the Servants. It wasn't just like any other war, it is a holy war and the only war that matters to some, if not most of us.
[ Ah, he's not good with words. ] Oh. The Library. [ He responded, dully. Karna had no use for books. ] Do you wish to go there, Lady?
no subject
She blinks and tilts her head, and listens trying her best to understand and gather what useful data and possible clues from his words and body language. It sounded like truth, He might not be a knight but he seemed to follow some of the familiar code most good knights followed.
"Ah, I see, a higher calling?" She half asks, and tilts her head the other way. Faithfulness to a cause was a good thing, within reason. One all too often heard and saw things taken to the extreme in such cases. Though most folks she dealt with in StoryBrooke it had usually been on the one side revenge or the other justice. Or what they saw as such.
She mentally sighed, it could be tiring trying to mediate and put out fires etc. Hense one of the reasons she hung around the Nexus these days. A sort of mini vacation though it wasn't always peaceful.
She smiles softly, "well, for a little bit, if you don't mind..There may be someone..more knowledgeable about things at the very least..or could point us in the right direction." She informs him warmly. "It's also one of the few places that..stays..where it is for the most part around here.." She informs him. True it wasn't Wonderlandian chaos level..but it could be close on a bad day.

Why, the Throne, if I disappeared due to the lack of mana. [ He fiddled a bit with his spear. ] But, please don't be concerned. It's the normal fate of a Heroic Spirit, Lady.
[ In another word: it's to be expected. It's actually more than a bit concerning how little value he puts in his own continuing existence, despite his seemingly boundless confidence. ]
You can say so. The Holy Grail can grant any wish. [ A small pause, and he added softly. ] I...do not have any wish of my own. My wish is to help my Master, and, as I said, in this War, to help my faction wins the War. [ And then, out of sudden curiosity-- ] Do you know of a magical object like that in your realm?
[ He looked at her, and blinks. Well, Karna doesn't really mind meeting someone else. Especially if they could help him get back, though he still had no use for books. ] I see. I would be very much grateful if someone could help me through their benefaction, as you are doing now, Lady. [ He smiled again, a little. ] So this place changes as well as being a realm in the crossroads of worlds? I don't think I have heard of anything like it.
[ Another pause. ]
Please lead the way, then.

Her long-suffering patience was about worn thin on that score. She'd probably have to upgrade to something other than soap and the like as a deterrent. How grown people could be such brats sometimes she'd never know. She slightly shook her head, focus. She mentally berated herself. Now was not the time to mentally stew and vent.
Her eyebrows went into her hair line, any? "Is..Is there not a price or something for such a wish?" She asks softly a little taken aback. Though she supposed the stuff the servants went through could be considered as such. Her eyes soften again and look kinda misty, "That's very noble of you." She murmurs sincerely. Though she half wondered if that was due to his regenerating.
She rubbed her chin again, "Well, there are legends of something similar..and there are genies..but there are rules and prices for such things. Like, for instance.." She began counting off on her fingers. "can't make someone fall in love with you, bring back the dead," She swallows softly and gets a far-off haunted sad look at that for a moment. "And a genie can not outright..murder someone while bound to their lamp." She informs him.
She smiles softly, "I certainly hope we can find someone..I know..how things can be confusing and such." She replies warmly returning the smile. Happy that she could be somewhat helpful. Sometimes it was hard just getting people to accept help, or to find the right resources for them. She hums in the affirmative and nods. "Aye, ahem yes, it can and does, though certain things..are a constant more or less. " She informs him. "It's definitely unique. must be all the energy and connection to the various realms." She states and theorizes with a nod.
She smiles warmly, Libraries, in general, were some of her fave places, the one here she'd just scratched the surface of, she felt. She looks about again and heads toward the tall building that might look similar to something from his time frame on the outside.
I'm sorry I'm so slow with this!!
[ He was aware that there are several...derogatory terms for non-Mages who disliked them, but it was none of his business. He was a Servant in a Holy Grail War. That is all that matters, and all that will ever matter. ]
The price is the War. [ Karna says, softer than he would like. ] In a normal Holy Grail War, seven Servants fought each other under seven Masters. Lives were offen lost. In mine, we have lost our Berserker and they have lost their Saber. A fair exchange, I suppose.
[ Though he kept the rest of his opinion to himself. Karna wasn't the one for words, and he merely gave her a blank look when she complimented him. ] I am the Hero of Charity, Lady. I merely do what is expected of me, and nothing less.
[ He listened to what she said next, not uninterestedly, beginning to be grateful for this respite. She proved to be a somewhat interesting conversation partner, and Karna hasn't had a proper conversation in a long time. It's not like he wanted to talk to Achilles, and the rest...well, let's just say the rest of them wasn't very talkative. Especially Spartacus. Karna doesn't understand a word of what that muscular man was saying other than "oppressor". ]
Mm, interesting. The Grail does not have such limitations. That is why it's the Holy Grail.
[ There was another slight pause as Karna assessed her again. ] ...I see. The confusion is not a concern. Please, do not worry about that, either. And I agree. That is why I said this place is like a leyline.
[ Boy, the Plaza itself is pretty vast. Karna found himself wondering about the rest of the place, then discovered that she had set out for the library, and he followed suit. It is not in his nature to wonder, although he did let his gaze assess the tall building and its surroundings a little. Once a Heroic Spirit, always a Heroic Spirit. ]
Re: I'm sorry I'm so slow with this!!

She smiles softly, "interesting, we..have various sorts of folks unfoutunently a fair few use their gifts for selfish and evil things. " She informs him. And nods, yeah sounds about right. "cultivation and training, is important." She agrees.
Her eyes soften and her shoulders sag a little. "ah I see, my condolences." She replies sincerely and politely. Yep, he seemed the consummate soldier through and through.
"That's a virtue , sadly not many seem to practice nowadays." She replies softly and wistful.
She blinks, and looks at him softly, "Well, if you're sure..and ah don't feel the need to be..um shy about asking questions around here.. there are lots of helpful folks." She informs him. "Usually you'll find a good group of folks in the plaza most days. " She informs him warmly.
She chuckles softly, "Aye tis, though some days it's more lively than others." She murmurs and glances around as she leads him toward the large stone steps. It was indeed filled with all sorts of things and possibilities. One never knew who or what ya might run into.
ty!!! also sorry he ain't very talkative rip
Ah. Yes. [ He says nothing more on the subject. It's her right to judge them, too, and it's none of his concern, either. ]
It happens. [ He merely said, shrugging, and then remembering his decorum. Karna kind of...sucks at it. ] Thank you, Lady.
[ ... ]
But if a lot of people practised a virtue, or are virtuous, it wouldn't be a virtue, would it? And there would not be any Heroic Spirits or Heroes. That is why we're here.
[ That is what it means to be a hero. But that's not what she asked for, so Karna kept it to himself. He kept a lot of things to himself and keeping to himself is what he do for the most part, although he's not shy. Not really. ]
I see. Thank you for the information.
[ He gave her another curt nod and followed her as they climbed over the stone steps. He glances at the entrance, there are some people milling around and everyone is dressed in all sorts of manner, so no one really paid him attention. Well. Just his lance, actually. But he doesn't pay them any heed. ]
Mm. It does seem to be that kind of place.
Re: no probelm, ^^ its alright. Strong silent type eh? XD
"You're most welcome." She replies automatically. But no less sincere.
She hums not sure about that. "I suppose striving towards something is important..But at least trying is better than the opposite. " She replies and shudders. She'd seen the dark side of batches of people at least not being compassionate or trying to empathize with people. She'd had to patch people up and bring them back from the brink more times then she could count.
Because of they either we're stubborn or prideful about something and got in over there heads. Especially with the whole eye for an eye mentally.
A part of her wondered why she bothered, another part couldn't..just well she couldn't just give up and quit on people.
Hence, the Nexus being a Godsend of sorts. She needed time to recharge her batteries as it were.
She nods, "your most welcome, happy to be of assistance. " She replies with a warm smile.
She pauses and glances back at him, with a small smile. "Indubitably. " She murmurs and then closes her eyes for a moment and takes a deep breath. She always loved Libraries with their smell and peaceful ish air. And worlds of knowledge etc at your fingertips. As well as adventures without having to leave yer chair.

"I would suppose that would depend on which doorway you entered from, do you know the way you've come in?" Katsuya pauses then, before a question of his own slips out.
"Aren't you cold?"

[ Vlad and the Holy Grail is still there, waiting for him. Karna felt his heart race faster. He doesn't think he could survive on his own without a Master, anyway, not with a physical body, and if this is another dimension...
He raised an eyebrow at what the man said next, cutting Karna's train of thought short. ]
No. I'm a Servant, and our physical bodies are stronger than yours. The weather doesn't affect us. [ Karna doesn't blame him if he's never seen one, especially one such as him. ]
no subject
The way the man says it, it sounds an awful lot like he's calling himself a demon or a Persona. Katsuya thinks to his own power, to Helios. The creature is very human looking, save for the catlike head and tail. Dressed oddly not unlike the man standing before him. If that's the case, would the real body be somewhere else?
It's all too much for him to wrap his head around.
"Are you human?"

Of the Holy Grail War. Seven Servants fight each other for the Grail, but this time seven more Servants have been summoned. I am the Lancer of Red, true name Karna.
[ The man's next question is predictable, and Karna answered it without breaking a sweat. ]
I am a Heroic Spirit summoned for the purposes of the Holy Grail War. In another words-- [ he paused briefly ] --a hero. You could call me that.
