Time for a big ol' Nexus Block party

On a sleepy summer morning a wonderful smell begins to waft throughout the Nexus. For those familiar with this place there can only be one explanation but for those new faces to the nexus this may be a strange thing: seeing so many people flocking toward the sweet and savory scents perfuming the Nexus.

There are a few tables set out this morning in the Plaza in front of a small cafe loaded with several carafes of coffee, a myriad of pastries from more than a few different worlds and cultures, and a large pan of eggs and sausage kept warm over a chafing dish. On either end of the table are disposable plates, cups, and cutlery as well as a few welcome pamphlets in a small container. Along the front of the tables is a hand made banner.

Meet and Greet

Manning the tables is Katsuya Suou, red apron on and a cup of coffee in hand. He looks far too cheerful for how early in the morning it is. It's always satisfying to put one of these on and see the throngs of different people stuck in line together to get their food and find a place to sit among the tables and couches nearby.

"Right then, is anyone hungry? I've got more than enough here for everyone so please mingle among yourselves or feel free to ask me anything you'd like."

There is a large dragon staring at the tables. Or, there WAS a large dragon, but now there's this youth standing in their place, looking over what's being offered for food.

Well, that's an inconvenient--oh! Much better. Katsuya can totally handle a human sized creature or person much more easily. He holds up a plate of croissants toward him.

"Hungry?"

He waves off the croissants. "I've had my fill of croissants for a lifetime. I'm looking for something more... Hoshidan." He paused, then looked up. "I'm not making any sense, do I?"

"Hoshidan?"

It sounds vaguely Japanese, if that's what the dragon boy means. The officer turns and looks over his spread before picking up a slice of a matcha roll cake and holding that out on a small plate instead.

"Something a bit less rich and sweet then?"

Michi's eyes suddenly brightens up. "Yes! That's perfect! Thank you so much!" He carefully takes the plate from Katsuya. "...Do you mind if I ask you a question? I mean, that the person up there," he gestures to the screen presenting the Nexus PSA a distance away.

"Not at all, that's half the point of these get togethers, after all."

Katsuya smiles when it's clear the dragonboy is pleased with the food choice he's made for the other. He gestures over to the drinks.

"There's plenty here so help yourself."

"Oh, good. I was just wondering if this place was like a Deeprealm, which is like... a plane of reality connected to the surface, but with it's own sense of time and space." He pauses. "Sorry, still not making sense?"

He looks over the drinks, scanning the labels carefully. (Michi would soon later be grateful that the Nexus can translate anything for everyone) He carefully takes a tea blend that features cinnamon. "This chai... this isn't something I've had before."

"No, it's...not unsual for people to have very different sounding realms and worlds other than my own. I've learned to accept the nature of other realities as truth even if they don't seem to make sense to me."

Frankly, when the youth you're speaking with can shift between a human and dragon at will everything else seems quite easy to believe. Katsuya does wonder though which form is this child's true nature, or if it even matters.

"It's a spiced tea. I would recommend taking it with a bit of cream to soften some of the edges it has."

Faris has been compared to a dragon so many times that he has begun keeping watch for an opportunity to meet one, and he catches a glimpse in his peripheral vision before the creature abruptly vanishes from view. The K'da swiftly moves forward, hoping he is not too late.

He turns his head this way and that, and sees no flash of scales. Perhaps someone else knows which way they went? "Excuse me," he says politely, "have you see a dragon recently?"

Michi merely grinned, and like a helmet, his face is suddenly that of the dragon's. "Why yes," he replied, his voice echoing, "that would be me."

Faris takes the change in stride, his ears flicking forward in interest as he dips his head in greeting. "Many have compared me to your people, though you are the first I have seen. I am Faris, of the K'da."

"Michi Clarkenstein, thought Michi Saitou works, too. Dragons aren't common from where I'm from, either- I just learned I was able to become one recently." Which is something that Michi probably isn't ready to talk about just yet.
