Time for a big ol' Nexus Block party
On a sleepy summer morning a wonderful smell begins to waft throughout the Nexus. For those familiar with this place there can only be one explanation but for those new faces to the nexus this may be a strange thing: seeing so many people flocking toward the sweet and savory scents perfuming the Nexus.
There are a few tables set out this morning in the Plaza in front of a small cafe loaded with several carafes of coffee, a myriad of pastries from more than a few different worlds and cultures, and a large pan of eggs and sausage kept warm over a chafing dish. On either end of the table are disposable plates, cups, and cutlery as well as a few welcome pamphlets in a small container. Along the front of the tables is a hand made banner.
Meet and Greet
Manning the tables is Katsuya Suou, red apron on and a cup of coffee in hand. He looks far too cheerful for how early in the morning it is. It's always satisfying to put one of these on and see the throngs of different people stuck in line together to get their food and find a place to sit among the tables and couches nearby.
"Right then, is anyone hungry? I've got more than enough here for everyone so please mingle among yourselves or feel free to ask me anything you'd like."
((OOC: This thread is ALL ABOUT threadjacking and hopping. I encourage folks to tag on each other's comments and mingle rather than to reply only to me. This is a huge opportunity to have your characters interact with people they wouldn't have talked to before. Branch out! Meet new people! Scheme new schemes! Steal the last chocolate croissant!))

Happy Birthday, Suou Tatsuya
One glimpse at his laptop screen reveals he's watching the "We Are The Champions: Final Live In Japan" concert video of Queen.

He claps his hands together excitedly, then points at Tatsuya. "Hey, favorite album. Let's hear it."

Without asking, Jill's plucking a pastry from his plate and sidling up just as comfortably as she'd taken the food. Like she knows him.
"Only saw this once," she says after she takes a few bites and cleanly swallows. Still no apology in sight. "A good one, though I'll admit I'm a little more hard rock. But worth hoarding snacks so you don't have to pause over, I think."

He doesn’t seem upset over having one of his pastries taken, or having someone sit next to him. It’s a Meet and Greet, after all, and Tatsuya has no objections about sharing food.
“That’s Queen for you,” he mentions as he munches on some bacon. “I grew up listening to them on vinyl records. Since then, I’ve always enjoyed foreign music.”

It's a good thing because she's in pretty excellent spirits and it really would only amount to her teasing. She can make an art of bad jokes, so it might be for the better that he's opted to relax about it all.
"Yeah? Where you from, in that case? Ah -- assuming you don't mind me asking. Don't want to pry too much more than I already have, after all."

At the very least, he’s more relaxed than his older brother, especially the one back home. But he doesn’t really mind bad jokes, personally.
“Nah, no worries. I’m from Sumaru, Japan.”

"Ah, I'm of Nikkei descent. My mother's mother. I'm American, though." She doesn't really have much of an accent so it's safe to assume she's not from anywhere in particular. Midwestern but without a hint of a Canadian pull. "Settled in Canada for the moment being, but I don't really get a chance for a breather. A lot of traveling for work."

“I was always interested in visiting Canada, heard there was a lot of cool places besides Niagara Falls.” He grabbed one of his pastries. “Maybe once things cool down back home, I’ll convince my family for a vacation out there.”

"It's more outdoorsy, I guess, but there's plenty of shopping and museums and things like that. I'd recommend something like Banff National Park. It's stunning and a great place to enjoy a little hiking and canoeing if that's your thing." It shouldn't be too surprising that she's interested in that, she kind of comes off like she hangs out more than in just gyms. "World's a big place, though. If you're able, traveling's worth it."
