Time for a big ol' Nexus Block party
On a sleepy summer morning a wonderful smell begins to waft throughout the Nexus. For those familiar with this place there can only be one explanation but for those new faces to the nexus this may be a strange thing: seeing so many people flocking toward the sweet and savory scents perfuming the Nexus.
There are a few tables set out this morning in the Plaza in front of a small cafe loaded with several carafes of coffee, a myriad of pastries from more than a few different worlds and cultures, and a large pan of eggs and sausage kept warm over a chafing dish. On either end of the table are disposable plates, cups, and cutlery as well as a few welcome pamphlets in a small container. Along the front of the tables is a hand made banner.
Meet and Greet
Manning the tables is Katsuya Suou, red apron on and a cup of coffee in hand. He looks far too cheerful for how early in the morning it is. It's always satisfying to put one of these on and see the throngs of different people stuck in line together to get their food and find a place to sit among the tables and couches nearby.
"Right then, is anyone hungry? I've got more than enough here for everyone so please mingle among yourselves or feel free to ask me anything you'd like."
((OOC: This thread is ALL ABOUT threadjacking and hopping. I encourage folks to tag on each other's comments and mingle rather than to reply only to me. This is a huge opportunity to have your characters interact with people they wouldn't have talked to before. Branch out! Meet new people! Scheme new schemes! Steal the last chocolate croissant!))

Hey, she's fine with him showing up, especially while waiting for her friends to show up. There's a plate of pancakes and some bacon next to a mimosa, nothing excessive today.
"Yeah, take a seat! Here, let me help you." She's putting down her fork and knife to extend a helpful hand, ensuring his plate won't fall to the ground.
no subject
He picks up his plate again, chewing thoughtfully, "How are you?"

As for the question about her own well being..."I've been doing okay. Things are getting somewhat better with the boyfriend." It's a step up from last time, but Marie happens to catch sight of his hand and the blister.
"Kyle...what happened to your hand? Did you burn yourself?"
no subject
He blinks, "My hand?"
He frowns at the blister, the boil is getting bigger and he frowns, "It just sort of happened. I think I'm allergic to something here."
no subject
"Geez...You should get that looked at. I have a few addresses of some local Nexus clinics that I can refer you to. Don't let me forget to give them to you." She pulls out her PINpoint. "You have one of these, right?"
no subject
"My laptop's kind of like a security blanket. I broke my ipad but I've had this guy since I graduated NYU." He pats the messenger bag, "It's been with me to Dubai, Kuwait, when I was embedded, covering protests..."
In kneeling down, she might note a second red blister, just at the line of shirtcollar and his hair line. This one much bigger and much more angry looking.
"Here it is. What's the addresses?"
no subject
She gives him a curious look, having never really sat down and talked with Kyle about his personal life. "What got you interested in travel?"
no subject
He pulls out his PINpoint and hands it to her, "I wanted to travel and becoming a reporter seemed the easiest way to do that. Eventually I'll write travel guides, then books, Kate and I will have a mess of kids and we'll move to staten island where i'll get fat, old, and die in that order."
He sounds a bit crisp about it, despite how he's grinning, before he breathes deep through his nose, "I've been all over my uh...world. And now I'm going to be able to say I've been other places."
He scratches at the back of his hand then, and the back of his neck, "Any other day I'd explore out here. this place is...fascinating to say the least."
no subject
In a strange twist, she's also giving him her personal phone number, which is a rarity. Not even her business clients get a direct line. There's something about Kyle's situation that resonates with Marie on a personal level and even his personality is welcoming.
"Get all the travelling out of the way before having the family is a good idea. I don't think I'll never have any kids, I'm too selfish and want to be free. My work is practically like having a child anyways. I run a bunch of stores in the Nexus, so being a CEO is like raising a family of employees."
She keeps an eye of the PINpoints, waiting for them to beep or indicate that the data transfer is done. "Do it. Once you go home and can come back, go see different worlds! You could transfer your career from home to the Nexus."
