Time for a big ol' Nexus Block party

On a sleepy summer morning a wonderful smell begins to waft throughout the Nexus. For those familiar with this place there can only be one explanation but for those new faces to the nexus this may be a strange thing: seeing so many people flocking toward the sweet and savory scents perfuming the Nexus.

There are a few tables set out this morning in the Plaza in front of a small cafe loaded with several carafes of coffee, a myriad of pastries from more than a few different worlds and cultures, and a large pan of eggs and sausage kept warm over a chafing dish. On either end of the table are disposable plates, cups, and cutlery as well as a few welcome pamphlets in a small container. Along the front of the tables is a hand made banner.

Meet and Greet

Manning the tables is Katsuya Suou, red apron on and a cup of coffee in hand. He looks far too cheerful for how early in the morning it is. It's always satisfying to put one of these on and see the throngs of different people stuck in line together to get their food and find a place to sit among the tables and couches nearby.

"Right then, is anyone hungry? I've got more than enough here for everyone so please mingle among yourselves or feel free to ask me anything you'd like."

Pandora doesn't have many tiny fluffy animals, and Earth hasn't had any in a long while, so Jake's attention is drawn to the little guy immediately. Kinda looks like a tinier version of the tiger that he saw a documentary on once.

"Man, that thing's got a hell of a jump."

CJ flops on Hermione's lap. Showing off now that he has Jake's attention.

"He is at that kitten stage, where sometimes he thinks he can jump anywhere and often achieves his goals." Hermione chuckles.

"Fearless. I like it," Jake says with a fanged grin. Timid attitudes don't get you far in life, in his experience. Whether it's with the Marines or with the Na'vi.

"He gets that from hanging out with me and my friends." Hermione chuckles.

"Oh yeah?" Jake raises his eyebrows at her as he starts roughly peeling an orange with his fingers. "You guys the thrillseeking type?"

"We are not afraid of facing new challenges." Hermione chuckles. "Harry, Ron and I were the youngest leaders to lead an army during a Wizarding War. We had to face Death Eaters, challenges, mysteries, and life-threatening situations for nearly five years."

"Damn." Sounds like a shit time, to put it mildly. He's got a question though. "Death Eater, is that like a vampire or something?"

"They are wizards who use Dark Arts and Dark Magic, and had alliances with a Dark Wizard." Hermione explained. "They usually have a mark on their forearm..."

She touches her forearm, and her glamour covering her 'Mudblood' scar breaks a little.

Jake's ears flick forward slightly, alert to the strange flicker of something on her arm. And maybe ever so slightly comes to the wrong conclusion. "They try to make you one of 'em?"

"No. One of them did scar me." Hermione removes the glamour. The scar is a word. Mudblood.

"Because of their opinion of me... since I was a Muggle-born witch."

Well that sounds kinda... slur-y. Rude as fuck, if nothing else. Who carves a word into somebody else? "Bastards."

"The witch responsible for the scar was rightfully punished for her crimes during the war. She was one of the Deatheaters, who followed the Dark Wizard."

[jarheadclan]

"Good." Jake doesn't know what 'rightfully punished' entails, but he hopes it hurt. "He got what was coming to him too, right?"

"He was killed in the war." Hermione affirms.
