Time for a big ol' Nexus Block party

On a sleepy summer morning a wonderful smell begins to waft throughout the Nexus. For those familiar with this place there can only be one explanation but for those new faces to the nexus this may be a strange thing: seeing so many people flocking toward the sweet and savory scents perfuming the Nexus.

There are a few tables set out this morning in the Plaza in front of a small cafe loaded with several carafes of coffee, a myriad of pastries from more than a few different worlds and cultures, and a large pan of eggs and sausage kept warm over a chafing dish. On either end of the table are disposable plates, cups, and cutlery as well as a few welcome pamphlets in a small container. Along the front of the tables is a hand made banner.

Meet and Greet

Manning the tables is Katsuya Suou, red apron on and a cup of coffee in hand. He looks far too cheerful for how early in the morning it is. It's always satisfying to put one of these on and see the throngs of different people stuck in line together to get their food and find a place to sit among the tables and couches nearby.

"Right then, is anyone hungry? I've got more than enough here for everyone so please mingle among yourselves or feel free to ask me anything you'd like."

"Eywa is your green?" An intense looking Swamp Thing might put off a lot of people, thank goodness he's talking to a big blue alien - with a human consciousness, "Your...the goddess? The earth mother? You know her?"

The red connects to the green?

To say he's excited is an understatement.

Jake used to think being excited about a planet-brain was weird and bullshit. Oh what little he knew, then. So he's pretty stoked to see Alec so excited about it himself, without having met Her yet. "Yeah, we've got an... interesting relationship. Any Na'vi can talk to her by plugging into the right trees, but I had to pass through Her eye to get put in this body permanently. It's been years and I still don't have words for how that felt."

He describes her as sentient. As if she has an identity apart from nature. The green is just the green, as he imagines the red is the red and the rot is the rot. The human beings they use add their personalities but each kingdom is motivated by survival. That need influences the beings they elevate to Godhood.

The way Jake speaks of this god, this planet brain, makes Alec pause. She sounds like an actual God. A real divine being.

To say he's excited is an understatement.

"...Sudden changes coming from nature, any sort of nature are..." He stared at his own massive hands, "...difficult, to put into words. Most human beings can't wholly understand them."

Jake nods, understanding well enough what Alec means. "I dunno if I fully get it either, honestly. Never been a big fan of... poetry and stuff like that, but I don't know if that'd help anyway. It just kinda... is what it is."

"...I'll have to bring you a book or two as a gift for what you're doing for me." To say that he's promising to be respectful is an understatement.

He shrugs, "Your attitude is...infecteous. Makes me not regret all of this so much. Not that I ever did-"

Mostly.

"...But someone who truly respects becoming part of something new...it's good to see."

Oh, he doesn't have to do that... but Jake's pretty bad at refusing gifts without offending people, so he just grins at Alec. "Thanks, man."

His attitude's been through a hell of a change in the past couple years, so he totally gets what the other guy means, and nods a bit. "After everything I've been through, I'd be some kinda idiot not to take it all serious. But it's important, and I got no regrets."

"...You're...wise. Jake Sully."

Alec extends a hand, "And you'll have a friend in this world's green. I'm excited to see what your world has in store. I was - as a scientist I - a real alien ecosystem."

Heh. Wise ass, maybe. "Not yet, but I'm still learnin'." He grins and shakes Alec's hand without hesitation. Man, he likes his guy, and he hopes Eywa will too. "Can't wait to have ya. You're gonna love it."

"I'm appreciative. Come and find me when you're prepared. Or if there's anything I need to do...please reach out and let me know. I'll be in the wilds for the foreseeable future."
